On Friday, May 11, 2018, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Retno LP Marsudi and her Brazilian counterpart Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira signed three documents of agreement between the two countries, namely the approval of visa exemption for diplomatic and official passports, exchange of notes for visa exemptions for regular passport holders and technical cooperation agreements.
“Today, we just witnessed three signings of approval on visa exemption for diplomatic and official passports, and exchange of notes for visa exemptions for regular passport holders and technical cooperation agreements,” Minister Retno said after the bilateral meeting between the two countries at Novotel Hotel in Bogor, West Java more recently.
Minister Retno Marsudi further said that the three instruments of approval could strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Brazil, and there would be no barrier to visit each other among the people, officials and others. Indonesia and Brazil have agreed to intensify their bilateral meeting. This was stated by Minister Retno LP Marsudi in a bilateral meeting with Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira at Novotel Hotel in Bogor, West Java on Friday(May 11th).
“And I would like also to invite you, Prime Minister to 'Our Ocean Conference', because Indonesia will host the 5th Our Ocean Conference in Bali on the 29th and 30th of October. And we agreed also to intensify our meeting wherever we are at the same International Conference to arrange the Bilateral Meeting,” Retno Marsudi said.
Minister Ferreira has welcomed the invitation of Minister Retno Marsudi to attend ‘Our Ocean Conference 2018’ in Bali. Minister Ferreira added that Indonesia and Brazil have similarities. “In that meeting, we discussed the problem about intensifying the implementation of the Strategic Partnership, because as a derivative of Strategic Partnership, we already have a plan of action. Therefore, we agreed to intensify our engagement. So, we can implement this Strategic Partnership better.” Minister Retno LP Marsudi told media after the meeting.

President Joko Widodo denounced a US unilateral action plan regarding the transfer of the US Embassy to Jerusalem. When opening the Trilateral Meeting of Indonesian Ulama, Afghanistan and Pakistan at the Bogor Palace, West Java, Friday President Joko Widodo called on other countries not to move their embassies to Jerusalem.
“We are holding the trilateral clerical meeting amidst the world’s concern, especially the Islamic world related to the transfer of the US embassy to Jerusalem. Indonesia strongly condemns this decision. This transfer decision violates the resolution of the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly. Therefore, I urge the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly to discuss the issue and take the next step. I also ask other countries not to follow the transfer of their embassies to Jerusalem. The move also disrupted the peace process and also threatened the peace itself. We with the people of Indonesia will fight with the Palestinian people and Palestine will always be in the breath of diplomacy Indonesia,” the President said.
President Joko Widodo officially opened a meeting of trilateral scholars between Indonesia, Afghanistan and Pakistan for peace stability in Afghanistan, at Bogor Palace, West Java on Friday (11/5).
