Metrology is one of pillars in the national quality infrastructure which has basic role to guarantee the health service quality. To strengthen its role, it needs synergy in fostering national quality infrastructure. Deputy of Scientific Service of  Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Mego Pinandito on the sidelines of Scientific Presentation of Fostering Metrology Infrastructure to Guarantee Quality of Health Service in Jakarta on Monday  (07/05) said LIPI encourages all calibration laboratories in Indonesia to have international standardization of health measuring instrument. Mego Pinandito also said that the calibration test standardization of LIPI is expected to be reference for calibration laboratory in Indonesia, so that LIPI laboratories are equal to the international standard.

“LIPI as the highest metrology institution in Indonesia which has been approved by the world. LIPI will get similarity values internationally. LIPI with calibration laboratory and testing laboratory in Indonesia will hold comparative testing of calibration laboratory for calibration laboratory, while proficiency testing for testing laboratory,” Mego Pinandito said.

Mego Pinandito also said that LIPI Metrology Research Center has resulted many research output to support guarantee of health infrastructure quality such as the development of calibration system of  “ear thermometer”. He explained the system will be used in the international comparative test in 2018. (VOI/AF/NITA)

JAKARTA - The Indonesian government has offered keys to OIC countries in addressing global challenges during the 45th Ministerial Conference of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

"In order to be able to solve the global issues, OIC should improve the management and organizational decision-making process," Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia A.M. Fachir stated in a press statement on Monday.

He also offered a solution to some challenges faced by the Islamic world.

In the field of politics and security, Indonesia has proposed the establishment of Contact Group on Peace and Conflict Resolution as a common forum to identify and formulate ways to address security and peace challenges.

In the economic and social aspect, he conveyed Indonesia`s initiative in the construction of vaccine and biotechnology products development center for OIC countries.

He added that the effort is important to realize the self-sufficiency of cheap vaccine procurement for OIC countries.

In addition, the Indonesian government has also invited OIC member countries to conduct research and development cooperation through the establishment of a center for excellence that could be located in Indonesia.

In the context of OIC cultural cooperation, the Indonesian government has successfully submitted a resolution during the High-Level Consultation of World Muslim Scholars on Wasatiyyah Islam, which was held in Bogor, West Java province, from May 1 to 3, 2018.

The meeting has resulted in the resolution of Bogor Message on the principle of moderation for the promotion of peace, tolerance, and harmonious life in the Islamic and interfaith world.

The resolution also focuses on the development of a fair, prosperous, peaceful, and open society that is in accordance with Islamic values.

On the occasion, OIC member states expressed appreciation for the implementation of the Islamic Wasatiyyah meeting in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Fachir also invited OIC member countries to cooperate with the spirit of Islamic brotherhood in overcoming various humanitarian problems in Palestine, Myanmar, Yemen, and Syria.

The Indonesia government has conveyed a constructive view on the issue of Rohingya refugees in the special session of the meeting. On the occasion, the Indonesian government underscored the importance of addressing the crisis thoroughly and encouraging the settlement of the root cause in two ways, namely through constructive approaches with the Myanmar government and the provision of assistance for economic development in Myanmar, particularly in Rakhine State.

The 45th OIC Ministerial Conference was opened by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh and was attended by 56 OIC member states.

The conference has resulted in the Dhaka Declaration and several important decisions related to the Palestinian issues.

OIC has established a joint stance and statement to consistently help provide material resources to support the struggle of Palestinian nation to be free from Israeli occupation and to strongly condemn the unilateral decision of the United States to open its embassy in Jerusalem on May 14, 2018. China`s Prime Minister Li Keqiang has called on Chinese firms investing in Indonesia to give priority to recruiting local workers in their respective companies.

"We have called on Chinese companies investing in Indonesia to employ mostly Indonesian workers," Li stated at a joint press conference with Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Monday.

Li noted that with more job opportunities in Indonesia, both countries could benefit from the investment.

On the other hand, the premier has called on the Indonesian government to simplify the administrative process for Chinese firms to invest in the country.

The bilateral meeting between President Widodo and Premier Li also discussed issues on cooperation in Halal food and Muslim fashion.

"We are pleased to invest in Indonesia in Halal food and Muslim fashion. Thus, together we can develop third markets," Li remarked.

He believed that the cooperation can be improved further, as the Muslim population in China has reached 20 million.

PM Li has expressed hope that China`s cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) would bring significant and strategic results.

China has stressed its commitment to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea.

"Despite any dispute or disagreement, we will surely cooperate to maintain stability in the region," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, President Widodo noted that the ASEAN, which contributed significantly to peace and stability in the region, must improve its performance.

The president has also called on China to support Palestine in its fight for freedom.

PM Li is on a state visit to Indonesia on May 6-8. Li was scheduled to visit the ASEAN Secretariat and attend the Indonesia-China Business Summit. (ANTARA)

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) welcomed the arrival of Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Monday.

The president welcomed Prime Minister Keqiang in the front yard of the palace at 10:30 a.m. local time.

Several students standing in front of the palace fence welcomed the arrival of Prime Minister Keqiang`s vehicle bearing the small flags of Indonesia and China.

Prime Minister Keqiang entered the courtyard of the Presidential Palace of Bogor aboard a vehicle and was escorted by troops comprising troop riders and drum band of the president`s security forces to the terrace of the palace.

The state ceremony was held to welcome Prime Minister Keqiang with a 19-cannon fire salute at the same time as the national anthem was played.

The Indonesian head of state and head of the Chinese government listened to the Indonesian national anthem and "Yi Yong Jun Jon Xing Qu."

President Jokowi and Prime Minister Keqiang will hold bilateral meetings to discuss cooperation in several sectors and conducted a joint tree planting.

During Prime Minister Keqiang`s official stay in Indonesia, he will also visit the ASEAN Secretariat to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of China's strategic partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

In addition, Keqiang will attend the Indonesia-China Business Summit.

This is the second visit of Prime Minister Keqiang to Indonesia. Keqiang had earlier paid a visit when he was deputy prime minister of China in 2008. (ANTARA)
