Some 14 sports venues,  renovated for the 18th Asian Games at the Bung Karno sports stadium complex in Senayan area, South Jakarta, and Palembang, are ready, and seven of them have been  inaugurated. Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono stated in Jakarta on Saturday, while witnessing the inauguration of the indoor and outdoor tennis courts by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi),  that renovation work on the 14 sports venues was completed, with seven of them already being inaugurated, while seven others are to follow. He remarked that the inauguration of the seven remaining venues depends on the schedules of President Jokowi or Vice President M. Jusuf Kalla. The minister said that the president is keen to inaugurate them one by one. Either the president or vice president will do it. The renovation work was completed as scheduled, so they are ready for the implementation of the Asian Games 2018 to be held in Jakarta and Palembang in South Sumatra Province, from August 18 to September 2, 2018. Indonesia- Sri Lanka agreed to increase trade cooperation. Among others by  forming  a special working group tasked with addressing and overcoming trade and investment barriers between the two countries. The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia, Dharsana Perera revealed it  in a special interview with Voice of Indonesia in Jakarta, Friday, February 2, 2018.
 
"We agree to establish what is refered to a working group on trade and investment to find ways and means to enhancing this overall relationship. So, that is very important mechanism of focus on the trade and investment area that will now be initiated between the two countries," Dharsana Perera said. 
 
The increasing cooperation in the trade and investment sectors between Indonesia and Sri Lanka is a follow up of a bilateral meeting conducted by President Joko Widodo and Sri Lanka President Maithripala Sirisena last month in Colombo, Sri Lanka. President Joko Widodo on his visit sought to encourage the economies of both countries to be more competitive through the formation of trade and investment working groups accompanied by the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Trade cooperation between Indonesia and Sri Lanka has actually been established for a long time. The cooperation can be seen from the trade data of both countries. Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) data throughout 2016 shows the trade value of two countries reached US $ 306.5 million. (Rezha;transbyAlika)

Indonesia expressed its readiness to host the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) with Cambodia in 2018. JCBC is a forum between
Indonesia and Cambodia that has been used to discuss issues related to both countries and the Southeast Asian region. The  Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi conveyed this in her press conference after a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, Prak Sokhoon in Jakarta, February 2, 2018.
 
"On strengthening bilateral relations we both agreed on the important on utilizing the joint commission for the bilateral cooperation as the main forum to review the progress of our bilateral relations. Indonesia is ready to host the next Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation the JCBC, and we agreed to have the fourth JCBC on the second half of 2018," Retno Marsudi said. 
 
Retno Marsudi further said Indonesia and Cambodia has agreed to strengthen bilateral relationships that have existed for more than five decades, exactly 59 years. Indonesia and Cambodia are working to strengthen bilateral mechanisms in key sectors, including trade and investment, tourism and regional cooperation. In addition to regional-related issues, Indonesia and Cambodia continue to support peace efforts and realize the stability of the South China Sea. Both countries also favored adoption of the Code of Conduct (CoC) framework for the South China Sea. (Rezha;transbyAlika)

Indonesia and Cambodia agreed to enhance tourism and cultural cooperation. One form of the cooperation is realized through sister temple cooperation between Borobudur Temple, in Magelang, Central Java, and Angkor Wat, in Angkor, Cambodia. In addition, Indonesia and Cambodia in 2018 are also planning to develop a diplomatic training institute in Cambodia. This was conveyed by the  Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi in her press conference after a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, Prak Sokhoon in Jakarta on Friday (February 2, 2018).

 

“...On cultural cooperation, we agree to further implement the existing agreement on cultural cooperation, including to promote sister temple cooperation between Angkor Wat and Borobudur Temple. And we agree also to start the cooperation in developing the Institute of Diplomatic Training in Cambodia,” Retno Marsudi said.

Minister Retno Marsudi hopes that in connection with the cooperation of developing a diplomatic training institute in Cambodia, Her Ministry expects for a visit from the director of the institute to Indonesia to discuss the programs to be undertaken by the institute in the future.(Rezha/Trans by Dhyka)
