PLN Gradually Recovers Electricity Supply (0)

State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has recovered electric power to Balaraja Extra High Voltage substation in Banten Province, and furthermore it will be channeled to Suralaya steam-fueled power plant (PLTU) to gradually recover its operation to reach its capacity of 2800 MW of electricity.

In addition, power supply from Gandul Extra High Voltage substations in Depok, West Java Province, will be channeled to Muara Karang gas and steam power plant (PLTGU) to supply electricity to the Indonesian capital city, Jakarta.

Acting President Director of PLN Sripeni Inten Cahyani said here on Sunday that the power supply to Jakarta was expected to recover within three hours.

"We apologize for the inconvenience today, and currently all efforts have been made to recover the Java-Bali power system, especially in the area of West Java, Banten, and Jakarta," Cahyani said.

The company has focused on power supply to PLTGU Muara Karang and PLTGU Priok to recover the system in the capital city.

Previously, PLN has recovered the operation of hydro-generated power plant (PLTA) Saguling and PLTA Cirata which are functioned as power stabilizer, and, at the same time, supply the electricity to PLTU Suralaya through Cibinong, Depok, Gandul, Lengkok, Balaraja and Suralaya extra high voltage substations.

PLTU Suralaya is expected to return to its normal operation within six hours to normalize power system in West Java and Banten.

Blackout that affected thousands of homes and public facilities in West Java, Jakarta, and Banten was caused by several troubles in the extra high voltage 500 kV transmission of Ungaran - Pemalang.

"PLN has taken its best efforts and will have evaluation to prevent recurrence of today's incident," Cahyani said.

The Secretary of State of the United States Mike Pompeo has made Indonesia an example of a harmonious life in religion, as he condemns extremism and violence in the name of certain beliefs.

"Really, there is no reason to say that Islam cannot coexist peacefully with Christians or Buddhists. We all know that coexistence in peace and mutual respect is possible," Pompeo said during a joint dialogue with the Ansor Youth Movement in Jakarta, Thursday.

"Indonesia, since the 1998 Reformation, has provided a positive example to the world of how different aspects, different ethnic groups, as well as different ideologies can live together peacefully," said Pompeo.

He added that harmony amid differences of belief would be difficult for those who twisted Islamic teachings to justify their violent behavior - in this case, ISIS calls an example.

In the event which was hosted by Head of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Yahya Cholil Staquf and attended by a number of interfaith figures, Pompeo praised the two largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia, NU, and Muhammadiyah, for their role in creating religious freedom.

"Groups such as NU and Muhammadiyah represent tens of millions of Indonesian Muslims who believe in a growing tradition of tolerance and democracy," said the US Secretary of State.

Regarding religious freedom, Pompeo called for more religious figures to speak out and oppose discrimination and oppression of anyone whose rights to life, including their religious rights, are violated.

For this reason, he called Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar and Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang, China, as a matter of violations of human rights related to religious freedom.

Pompeo made an official visit to Asian countries, October 25-30. He has visited India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, then carried out an agenda for one day in Indonesia.

In Indonesia, Pompeo started the visit by holding a bilateral meeting with Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, then meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

Finally, he attended the GP Ansor religious dialogue. Afterward, Pompeo is scheduled to make the first stop in Vietnam - for a visit not originally included in this itinerary - on Thursday and Friday (30/10) tomorrow, before returning to the US. (Antaranews)

President Joko Widodo opened the 7th Indonesian Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) in 2020. In his remarks, the President expressed his wish that Indonesia could become a center of excellence for the Islamic economy at the global level.

Islamic economics and finance still have vast potential for further development. In fact, Islamic economics and finance are not only in demand by countries with a Muslim majority population but also other countries such as Japan, Thailand, Britain, and the United States are interested in considering their potential.

For this reason, through his remarks at the opening of the 7th Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) in 2020, President Joko Widodo said that Indonesia must quickly grasp this opportunity and potential.

Insert: Indonesia with the largest Muslim population in the world must seize this opportunity by encouraging the acceleration, acceleration, economic development and national sharia finance as part of the transformation towards an advanced Indonesia and efforts to make Indonesia a reference center for the global sharia economy.

Domestically, Indonesia already has a National Committee on Sharia Economics and Finance (KNEKS) to welcome these opportunities by striving to accelerate economic growth and Islamic finance. A number of strategies are being taken to make this happen, including strengthening the halal value chain, strengthening Islamic finance, strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises, and strengthening the digital economy.

The President said the holding of ISEF could be momentum to further develop the economic and financial potential of sharia by making a clear and detailed road map and determining concrete steps that must be taken immediately.

Insert: The Islamic finance industry is a sleeping giant. Currently, the government has a great interest in resurrecting this giant.

Since some time ago, the government has developed the sharia economy and finance at the grassroots level, namely by developing micro-banks in various places in Indonesia in collaboration with existing Islamic boarding schools and religious organizations. In this way, the Head of State hopes that the Islamic financial industry can become an alternative financial instrument to advance the people's economy.

In addition, according to Jokowi, the development of a sharia economy based on the real sector, labor-intensive and the halal industry is also very potential to expand employment and open new business opportunities. Indonesia has a lot of superior halal products, some of which have gone global.

According to Jokowi, the great potential in the halal industry must be integrative and comprehensive by improving the sharia industry ecosystem. Besides that, according to him, the government will also simplify regulations to make it more effective, including preparing supporting human resources. (VOI)

Commemorated every October 28, the Youth Pledge was a major milestone in the Indonesian's history of the independence movement.

This pledge is a crystallization of the spirit to affirm the ideals of the establishment of the Indonesian state.

"Youth Pledge" is the decision of the Second Youth Congress which was held for two days, 27-28 October 1928 in Batavia (Jakarta).
This decision affirms the ideals of an "Indonesian homeland", "Indonesian nation" and "Indonesian language".

This decision becomes the principle for every "association of Indonesian nationalities" and for "to be broadcasted in various newspapers and read before the meetings of the associations".

The term "Youth Pledge" itself did not appear in the congress decision but was given afterward. The idea for holding the Second Youth Congress came from the Indonesian Student Student Association (PPPI), a youth organization with members from all over Indonesia.

On the PPPI initiative, the congress was held in three different buildings and was divided into three meetings.
Here are the meetings:

FIRST MEETING, on Saturday, October 27, 1928, at the Katholieke Jongenlingen Bond (KJB) Building, Banteng Field.

In his remarks, Soegondo hoped that this congress could strengthen the spirit of unity in the hearts of the youth. The event continued with Moehammad Jamin's description of the meaning and relationship of unity with youth. According to him, there are five factors that can strengthen Indonesia's unity, namely history, language, customary law, education, and will.

SECOND MEETING, on Sunday, October 28, 1928, at the Oost-Java Bioscoop Building.

The two speakers, Poernomowoelan and Sarmidi Mangoensarkoro, agreed that children should receive national education, there must also be a balance between education at school and at home. Children also need to be educated in democracy.

THIRD MEETING, at the INDONESISCHE CLUBHUIS KRAMAT BUILDING

In the next session, Soenario explained the importance of nationalism and democracy apart from the scouting movement. Meanwhile, Ramelan argued that they could not separate the scouting movement from the national movement. The scouting movement from an early age educates children to be disciplined and independent, things that are needed in the struggle. Before the congress closed, the song “Indonesia” by Wage Rudolf Supratman was played. They greeted the song with great fanfare.

Then, Congress announced the formulation of the results. The following are the three congress' decisions as listed on the inscription on the wall of the Youth Pledge Museum. The original writing uses the Indonesian language in the van Ophuijsen spelling.

First: We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, claim to have one blood, Indonesian soil.
Second: We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one nation, the Indonesian nation.
Third: We, the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge the language of unity, the Indonesian language. (RRI)
