PLN Gradually Recovers Electricity Supply (0)
State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has recovered electric power to Balaraja Extra High Voltage substation in Banten Province, and furthermore it will be channeled to Suralaya steam-fueled power plant (PLTU) to gradually recover its operation to reach its capacity of 2800 MW of electricity.
In addition, power supply from Gandul Extra High Voltage substations in Depok, West Java Province, will be channeled to Muara Karang gas and steam power plant (PLTGU) to supply electricity to the Indonesian capital city, Jakarta.
Acting President Director of PLN Sripeni Inten Cahyani said here on Sunday that the power supply to Jakarta was expected to recover within three hours.
"We apologize for the inconvenience today, and currently all efforts have been made to recover the Java-Bali power system, especially in the area of West Java, Banten, and Jakarta," Cahyani said.
The company has focused on power supply to PLTGU Muara Karang and PLTGU Priok to recover the system in the capital city.
Previously, PLN has recovered the operation of hydro-generated power plant (PLTA) Saguling and PLTA Cirata which are functioned as power stabilizer, and, at the same time, supply the electricity to PLTU Suralaya through Cibinong, Depok, Gandul, Lengkok, Balaraja and Suralaya extra high voltage substations.
PLTU Suralaya is expected to return to its normal operation within six hours to normalize power system in West Java and Banten.
Blackout that affected thousands of homes and public facilities in West Java, Jakarta, and Banten was caused by several troubles in the extra high voltage 500 kV transmission of Ungaran - Pemalang.
"PLN has taken its best efforts and will have evaluation to prevent recurrence of today's incident," Cahyani said.

Jokowi Calls on Indonesians to Exercise to Boost Immune System
Written by Ani HasanahPresident Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has called on people to exercise regularly in order to boost immunity in the wake of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Jokowi exercised in the Bogor Presidential Palace compound and surrounding area, in West Java, on Sunday morning, accompanied by Commander of the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto and National Police Chief General Idham Azis.
"We hope that by exercising, our immunity and health to improve. I call on the public to exercise and boost our immunity and health," the President said, as quoted in a press statement issued by the Presidential Secretariat on Sunday.
Jokowi began his exercise on Sunday 7:30 a.m. local time.
"This morning, I jogged together with the TNI Commander and the National Police Chief. Jogging can keep us healthy. During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic being healthy is necessary," he said.
Jokowi and the two five-star generals also walked around the Bogor Botanical Garden, which is located next to the presidential palace. They were wearing face masks and maintained physical distance from each other.
From the Palace gate, they went to the Mexican Park located inside the Bogor Botanical Garden. The park has a collection of dry climate plant species that is arranged to resemble its natural habitat.
From the Mexico Park, they walked towards the Red Bridge and then to the White Bridge, which covers a distance of 3.5 kilometers.
After exercising for about 30 minutes, the President, the TNI Commander, and the National Police Chief returned to the Bogor Presidential Palace main building. and had tea at the palace's veranda. (ANTARA)

Ministry prepares criteria for businesses to receive recovery stimulus

The Industry Ministry has readied criteria for business sectors eligible to receive recovery stimulus under the National Economic Recovery Program (PEN). As quoted by Antara, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in a statement on Friday stated, that one of the criteria is linked to the absorption of workers. Kartasasmita stressed on the importance of giving special attention to the labour-intensive sector, to enable those engaged to continue operations and prevent them from conducting mass layoffs, while simultaneously maintaining the people's purchasing power. He explained that it holds significance since this sector absorbs a significant number of workers, and any shocks in the sector will affect workers and their families. Indonesia, ASEAN agree to keep trade open amid COVID-19

Economic ministers of Indonesia and ASEAN nations have agreed, to ensure free flow of trade, especially in essential goods, and make efforts to deal with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The agreement was reached during the Special ASEAN Economic Ministers (AEM) Virtual Conference Meeting on COVID-19 Responses. Government to Quickly Execute Suitable Economic Recovery Programs

The Indonesian Government aims to implement suitable and quickly executed economic recovery programs.
“This is so due to the pace of economic growth in our country which cannot be corrected any deeper. We know that in the first quarter our economy was only able to grow 2.97 percent,” President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said at the limited meeting on the National Economic Recovery Program and the 2020 State Budget Posture Revision, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (3/6).
Furthermore, the President said that in the second, third, and fourth quarters, the Government must be able to hold back the rate of economic growth so that it does not plummet deeper. The President also expect the possibility of a rebound.
“Therefore, I instruct all economic recovery program schemes that have been designed such as interest subsidies for MSMEs, fund allocation for banks affected by restructuring, guarantees for working capital loans, State Capital Inclusion (PMN) for SOEs, and government investment for working capital, to be quickly executed.” the President stated. Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs Announces Cancelation of Departure of Hajj Pilgrims 2020

This policy was taken because the Government must prioritize the safety of the hajj congregation in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic. The Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs, Fachrul Razi, in a teleconference with the media at the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ office in Jakarta on Tuesday (02/06), stressed this decision was taken after conducting an in-depth study.
"The government has decided not to send the hajj pilgrims in 1441 Hijr or 2020. I convey this decision through the Decree of the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 494 of 2020 concerning the Cancellation of the Departure of the Hajj Pilgrimage for 1441 Hijr or 2020. In accordance with the mandate of the Law, in addition to economic and physical capability requirements, health and safety of the pilgrims must be guaranteed and prioritized, starting from the embarkation or debarkation, in travel, and also while in Saudi Arabia," said Fachrul Razi.
In addition to the safety issues, the Minister of Religious Affairs Fachrul Razi also said, this policy was taken because until now the Saudi Arabian government has not opened access for the 1441 Hijr Hajj Pilgrimage Services. As a result, the Indonesian Government does not have enough time to make preparations for the implementation of guidance, service and protection for pilgrims. Fachrul Razi added that following the issuance of the cancellation policy for the departure of the pilgrims, regular and special pilgrims who had paid the Hajj Travel Costs (Bipih) this year would become pilgrims of next year’s hajj. Houses of Worship Reopen, albeit with Stringent Procedures: Jokowi
Written by Ani HasanahPresident Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that houses of worship, schools, and other economic activities would be reopened though applying strict procedures based on the COVID-19 basic reproduction number (R0) and effective reproduction number (Rt).
The president made the statement in Jakarta on Tuesday after observing the preparedness of Istiqlal Grand Mosque to apply the procedures for a new normal.
"Strict stages of protocols will be applied while reopening houses of worship, facilities for economic activities, and schools on the basis of the reproduction number R0 and Rt," Jokowi stated.
The president affirmed that the reopening of public activities would be based on research data and be conducted in stages.
He highlighted the need for the Istiqlal Mosque management to prepare health protocols to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Renovation is underway at the Istiqlal Mosque since May 2019, and the project is targeted for completion by early July, according to the mosque's Grand Imam Nasaruddin Umar.
The work to renovate the largest mosque in Southeast Asia has reached 90-percent completion.
Earlier, the Religious Affairs Ministry had issued new-fangled guidelines for houses of worship that are set to reopen soon.
According to the guidelines, houses of worship may only reopen if the COVID-19 basic reproduction number, R0 or R-naught, as well as the effective reproduction number, Rt, in their respective areas are below a certain threshold.
Houses of worship that plan to reopen must secure a letter from their local COVID-19 task force, confirming that the area is safe from COVID-19.
The circular also requires the implementation of rigorous health procedures, including the deployment of special personnel in charge of monitoring physical distancing and the installation of sanitation facilities at the entrances and exits of all houses of worship.
Children and elderly vulnerable to diseases should be forbidden from praying at houses of worship, according to the circular. (ANTARA)

Jokowi Leads Virtual Commemoration of Pancasila Day

The President mentioned that the national strategic agenda does not only to involve the economic field, but also the basic things for the people, such as education, improving the quality of Human Resources and health sector.
