Head of National Anti Narcotics Agency–BNN, Police Commissioner General Heru Winarko in special interview with RRI World Service–Voice of Indonesia at BNN Building has said more recently that the spread of narcotics from foreign countries has been worrying. Thus, he also remarked that BNN is optimizing cooperation for Narcotics spreading observation with foreign countries, especially in border areas that have been major entrance of illegal products.

“…We try to share information. So if narcotics traders bring them to borders, we have also cooperation with Indonesian Navy, Sea Security Agency and Indonesian Police. We have also cooperation with Indonesian Customs. Actually, we have also cooperation in ASEAN countries and BNN is the chairman. We coordinate and we have a center office for sharing. For the air border from Thailand, it is called ‘Intersection Eye-port cooperation.’ We mutually share information,” Heru Winarko said.

In addition, Heru Winarko further explained that all components can play a major role actively to eradicate narcotics spread in Indonesia. He also said that the illegal products can harm Indonesian generation and this must be a serious attention for all stakeholders. Heru asked Indonesian people to avoid narcotics and never try it. Indonesia and South Korea continue the cooperation to produce jet fighters KFX and IFX. The cooperation must give benefit for Indonesia in a bid to be independent on national defense industries and to be able to produce national jet fighters. This was stated by Minister of Defense, Ryamizard Ryacudu after visiting Headquarters of Marine Command of the Indonesian Navy in Cilandak, East Jakarta on Thursday (03/05).

“The cooperation to produce jet fighters continues because we have spent trillion rupiahs, approximately 3 trillion. There was uncompleted assessment while the agreement was approved. We must be independent.  If we can produce jet fighters, we must be able to sell them. We keep negotiating,” Ryamizard said.

Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu further said that substantially, Indonesia keeps modernizing its main weaponry system to face global changes.  However, he said the important thing is that Indonesia must be able to look at several developing potential threats coinciding with fulfilling modern technology. Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Brunei Darussalam, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah expressed his interest to buy the main weaponry system made by PT. Pindad. The interest was expressed by Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah when he met President Joko Widodo in a bilateral meeting held at Bogor Presidential Palace complex in West Java on Thursday (May 3). After the bilateral meeting, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and President Joko Widodo visited the exhibition of weapons produced by PT Pindad, PT Dirgantara Indonesia and PT PAL Indonesia at the Headquarters of Indonesian Military in Cilangkap, East Jakarta. After visiting the exhibition, President Joko Widodo explained to media that the main weaponry system purchased by Brunei Darussalam from PT. Pindad is a firearm and Anoa tank.

“The main weaponry system, both weapons and anoa tanks purchased from Pindad has been immediately processed.  We had also offered the ship, but he said that he still examines about it. We also offered CN aircraft; he also said that  he still examines about it. He will immediately call his minister. But the purchase of anoa tanks has been clear,” said President Joko Widodo.

In addition to visiting the exhibition of main weaponry system, Sultan Haji Hasanal Bolkiah along with several high-ranking officials of Brunei Darussalam also witnessed the skill demonstration of Indonesian soldiers such as playing percussion skills, martial arts attractions, and hostage rescue attractions involving tactical vehicles and helicopters. After witnessing the demonstration, the Sultan accompanied by President Joko Widodo and Indonesian Military Commander, Hadi Tjahjanto wrote a message and his impression on the exhibition. On the same occasion at Indonesian Military Headquarters, Sultan Haji Hasanal Bolkiah also took time to play badminton with high officials and Indonesian badminton athletes. Indonesian President Joko Widodo paired with Alan Budi Kusuma against Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah who paired with Hendry Saputra. Minister of Defense, Ryamizard Ryacudu visited Headquarters of Marines Command of the Indonesian Navy in Cilandak Jakarta on Thursday (May 3). The visit aimed to have a close  look at the readiness of the main weaponry system and marine personnel to face all kinds of upcoming challenges.  He calls for marine personnel to keep on training all kinds of combating abilities in a bid to be more ready if instructed to maintain the Unitary State of Republic of Indonesia from disruption such as terrorism or modern war.

“To all officers, be good and smart leaders for your subordinate personnel. They should understand how their subordinates’ lives are. Being leaders can solve problems, not to be a problem. Then, your main duties on the base are two trainings: physical training, and tactical anti-terror and many more. Secondly, they should strengthen their mindset because the upcoming war is mindset. This is very important to support the existence of state and nation of Indonesia,” said Ryamizard Ryacudu.

Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu also emphasized the importance of defense infrastructure development with ideal, effective and firm state performance to anticipate all kinds of threats. He also said that it is necessary to instill awareness value of defending the state as basic fundament of total warfare defense.
