President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) made a working visit to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Friday (5/17) morning. Departing from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara by using the Indonesian-1 Presidential Aircraft at 08.00 WIB, the President and his entourage arrived in Lombok at 10:44 local time.

From Zainuddin Abdul Majid International Airport, the President and his entourage went straight to the Kuta Beach Icon, Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK), Central Lombok Regency, and were welcomed along the way by students and residents who had been waiting for him since morning.

On the way to Mandalika beach, the President walked through the green open space of the city of Mandalika, and saw the arrangement of the Kuta Mandalika pedestrian, the President also took time to explore the MSME area "Bazzar Mandalika".

Arriving at Kuta Beach Icon, Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK), the President reviewed Kuta Mandalika Beach facilities.

According to the plan, before continuing the next work visit in Bali Province, the President and his entourage will perform Friday prayers at Nur Syahada Mosque, Sade Hamlet, Rembitan Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency.

After Friday prayers, the President and his entourage will head to Lombok International Airport, Central Lombok Regency, and then take off to Bali Province.

Accompanying the President during his working visit to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara was Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono. (kemensetkab)

Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic Indonesia, H.E. Retno L.P. Marsudi held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, H.E. Dionísio Da Costa Babo Soares on Friday, 17 May 2019 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta.​​

The Foreign Minister of Timor-Leste congratulated Indonesia for the successful organization of the General Elections on 17 April 2019. Minister Soares also congratulated Indonesia for its membership in the United Nations Security Council and Indonesia's presidency of the Council in May 2019. 

The two Ministers discussed various issues related to cooperation in the Pacific region, bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, and capacity building support, as well as negotiations between Indonesia and Timor-Leste border.  The Foreign Minister of Timor-Leste is also in Jakarta to follow-up on the progress for its application to become a member of ASEAN.

“Indonesia wants to see Timor-Leste become a prosperous and stable country supported by a strong   economy and be part of the ASEAN family. That is why Indonesia places Timor-Leste as a priority for its technical assistance program in the context of South-South Cooperation," explains Minister Marsudi. 

Minister Marsudi briefed Minister Soares on the preparations for the upcoming “Pacific Exposition" in Auckland, New Zealand, 11-14 July 2019, which is organized by the Indonesian government. Timor-Leste will be sending a delegation to this event that is aimed to increase cooperation among the Pacific states in the areas of trade and investment, connectivity as well as arts and culture.

On border issues, both ministers viewed the negotiations on the land boundaries between Indonesia and Timor-Leste as a priority and expected them to be concluded in the forseeable future. 

The ministers also agreed to ramp up trade and investment cooperation, including in the border regions. Economic empowerment of the Indonesian and Timor-Leste communities living in the borders not only boosts economic development but also promotes a peaceful environment. 

To boost economic development in the border areas, both Ministers  also discussed efforts to speed up plan for the constructon Mota Ain bridge, connecting Indonesia and Timor-Leste. (kemenlu)

President Joko Widodo has appointed nine members of the Selection Committee (Pansel) for the Head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the term of office from 2019-2023. The Pansel was formed to guarantee the quality and transparency in the selection of KPK leadership candidates regarding the end of the current KPK leadership term on December 21, 2019.

The stipulation was stated in the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 54 / P Year 2019 concerning the Establishment of the Candidate for the Corruption Eradication Commission Leadership Selection Committee for the Year 2019-2023 signed by President Joko Widodo on Friday, May 17, 2019.

The KPK Committee Chancellor 2019-2023 is led by Yenti Ganarsih as chairman. Yenti is an academic lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Trisakti University. Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Indonesia, who is also former Acting. The head of the Corruption Eradication Commission, Indriyanto Senoadji, was appointed as deputy chief of committee.

As a pansel member, the President appointed Harkristuti Harkrisnowo, an academic who is also an expert in criminal law and human rights (HAM); Hamdi Moeloek, academics and psychology expert at the University of Indonesia; and Marcus Priyo, an academic and criminal law expert at Gadjah Mada University.

Then there are also Hendardi, founder of the Setara Institute NGO, and Al Araf, Imparsial Director, sitting as a member. In the pansel also sat two elements of the government, namely Diani Sadia, Expert Staff of Bappenas, and Mualimin Abdi, Director General of Human Rights at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

The KPK Committee Chancellor from 201-2023 will work to select candidates for KPK leadership for the period 2019-2023 since the Presidential Decree was stipulated. They will be tasked with filtering and proposing names of candidates to the President and working until the formation of KPK leaders for the period 2019-2023.

President Joko Widodo appreciated the dedication and hard work of the TNI and Polri in carrying out their duties. According to the President, the professional work of all members of the TNI and Polri in the country made the simultaneous general elections held on April 17 running democratically, honestly, fairly, safely and peacefully.

"I really appreciate, really appreciate that hard work," the President said while giving a speech at the event opening together with a large family of TNI and Polri at the Monas Field, Jakarta, Thursday, May 16, 2019.

The President also reminded that Indonesia is a large country with diverse tribes, religions, races, cultures, customs, to different traditions.

"Thank God until now, and we hope so on, this country will continue to be safe," he continued.

According to the President, political stability and security are absolute conditions for the development of the Indonesian nation. This, he continued, would not have happened if the TNI and Polri were not solid and in synergy.

"It means what? At present we can work to build this country because the TNI and Polri are very solid and very united. That is the people who speak, I only hear. Glad people see the TNI and Polri united," he said.

The Head of State then invited the TNI and Polri to continue to embrace all elements of society to jointly build the nation. In addition, it is also to dispel understandings and forces that are not in accordance with Pancasila, and cut down the seeds of terrorism which can threaten the stability and integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

Increasing TNI Polri's Capacity

On this occasion, the President also said that the government would continue to work hard to increase the capacity of the TNI and Polri. In the Indonesian National Police's leadership meeting on January 29, the President said that the tasks of the TNI and Polri would be even heavier. For this reason, he will sign the addition of the position of high-ranking TNI officer.

"I repeat that I will soon sign the position of a high-ranking TNI officer who will later have an additional number of more than 100 high-ranking TNI officers. But we will continue to examine this and in the future there will also be spaces for additional high ranking TNI officers," he said.

Meanwhile, related to the welfare of the TNI and Polri, the President said that the Hari Raya (THR) allowance will be received by TNI Polri members at the end of May. As for the thirteenth salary will be given in July.

"I have already signed if this is the case, the THR grant will be accepted at the end of this month at the latest," he said, greeted by boisterous applause from the soldiers. (pers media )
