PT Adhi Karya has continued construction of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) project in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi (Jabodebek), while following the COVID-19 preventive health protocol.In a statement as quoted by Antara, General Manager of the Railroad Department Adhi Karya Isman Widodo said, in a COVID-19 pandemic situation, they always coordinate with the management team at the Ministry of Transportation while following the COVID-19 prevention rules. According to Isman, Adhi Karya abides by the protocols provided by the central government, the Ministry of Transportation, the regional governments and ministries, including the Manpower Office.He noted that much work is being carried out at home, as staff remain quarantined. Indonesian Transportation Ministry's spokeswoman Adita Irawati confirmed, that the temporary ban on using public transportation, private vehicles, and motorbikes for Idul Fitri homebound travel or mudik will come into effect, Friday, April 24. As quoted by Antara Ms Irawati said that transportation of logistics, drugs, officers, fire engines, ambulances, and hearses are excluded from the ban. The ban was stipulated in Minister of Transportation's Regulation on Transportation Control during the Idul Fitri 1441 H Mudik. The regulation was issued to follow up on a decision made during a limited cabinet meeting chaired by President Joko Widodo on Tuesday, April 21.The ban applies until May 31, 2020, for land transportation; June 15, 2020, for railway transportation; June 8, 2020, for sea transportation; and June 1, 2020, for air transportation//Ant

President Joko Widodo decided to delay holding the 2020 National Games (PON) in Papua, from October 2020 to October 2021, over the ongoing new coronavirus disease pandemic that disrupted the completion of several sports venues. Construction work at the venues for this multi-sport event could not be continued, partly owing to the shortage of building materials in Papua, Youth and Sports Minister Zainuddin Amali informed journalists as quoted by Antara. The construction material available was insufficient since supplies from outside Papua, were hindered by the imposition of travel restriction and social restriction measures in Papua, he explained//Ant

More than a quarter of Myanmar's prison population is being released, the president's office announced Friday, after calls grew to ease pressure on overcrowded jails with coronavirus fears gripping the country. Myanmar grants an annual amnesty to thousands of prisoners to mark its April New Year holiday, but this is the largest recorded in recent years. It comes as governments around the world -- including the US, parts of Europe, and Colombia -- grapple with overcrowded prisons as fears spiral of virus outbreaks behind bars. A statement Friday from the president's office stated that  to mark Myanmar New Year, by respecting humanitarian ground and peace in mind of the people, the president pardons altogether 24,896 prisoners from various prisons//AFP
