Bandung city was chosen as a pilot project for the Global City of the Future program by the British Government through the British Embassy. The collaboration was to improve the mass transportation system to reduce the issue of congestion in the city of Bandung. The British Ambassador to Indonesia Owen Jenkins said that the problem of mass transportation does not only belong to Bandung City. But it can be experienced by any city in the world. He said he was happy to be able to participate in solving the problems with the Bandung City Government. Owen Jenkins   said he was proud to share his experience and knowledge about transportation in the UK with the Bandung City Government at the beginning of the formation of public transportation in Indonesia. The Global City of the Future program is focused on integrating mass transportation systems in Bandung since mass transportation is a clear solution of traffic congestion which is a major problem in the city// Republika.Trs.Nana

The Malaysian Government has extended its travel ban for Chinese tourists including from Zhejiang and Jiangsu Provinces following the decision of the Chinese Government to isolate several cities in the two provinces in an effort to combat the spread of the novel coronavirus. Deputy Prime Minister Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the decision followed China's steps to expand isolation from five cities in Zhejiang Province and two cities in Jiangsu Province. The capital of Hubei province, Wuhan, has been isolated since January 23. Wan Azizah, through a statement on Sunday, said travel restrictions would be imposed in line with the isolation of the region by the Chinese Government. The prime minister elaborated that restrictions would apply to all tourists from any country, who have visited Hubei, Zhejiang and Jiangsu. As of Saturday (Feb8), Malaysia reported 16 confirmed cases of the coronavirus. Two of them were allowed to return back home after being cured from the virus. (Ant/Trs.AL)

Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison held a meeting at Parliament House in Canberra, Australia on Monday (10/2). As reported by the Cabinet Secretary, President Jokowi said that the state visit marks the new era of the relationship between Indonesia and Australia as well as ratification of the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) 2020-2024. In a joint press statement, the Indonesian President remarked that in the next five years, the bilateral cooperation between the two countries will be more advanced and organized. President Joko Widodo  also hoped that the ratification of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA) would bolster economic cooperation between the two countries and provide mutual benefits for all Indonesian and Australian people. The Indonesian Government encourages the 100 day implementation of the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. One of which is through the Australia Business Week which will be led by Australian Trade Minister in Indonesia. (Setkab/AL)

The Government of Pekalongan in Central Java Province held durian festival at Limbangan Village on Sunday (Febr10) in a bid to promote local culinary tourism to local and international tourists. Regent of Pekalongan Asip Kholbihi in Pekalongan on Sunday (Feb10) said that the durian festival is held annually at three villages namely Karanggondang, Limbangan, and Lolong (Kabalong) Villages. The Regent of Pekalongan pointed out that the durian cultivated by Limbangan farmers have a delicious taste and excellent quality. In addition to promoting the culinary tourism of the region, the festival is also aimed at promoting the tourism objects at the three villages. Asip Kholbihi said that the tourism objects located at the three villages are supported by restaurants, beautiful panoramas, and numerous facilities. The regent also explained that the durian from Pekalongan is distributed to other regions such as Jakarta, Surabaya, and several areas across Java. (Ant/Trs.AL)
