VOInews, Jakarta : The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Indonesia, Timor-Leste, and ASEAN, the Indonesia Cyber Security Forum (ICSF), the Communication and Information System Security Research Centre (CISSReC), and Cyber Law International successfully organized the Cyber Law Expert Panel: Strategic Approaches to Cyber Governance—International Law Applicable in Cyberspace on June 26–27, 2024, at the JW Marriott Hotel in Jakarta.

The event brought together 50 key stakeholders, including government regulators, policymakers, ministry representatives, state-owned enterprises, military and defence personnel, and members of educational institutions. The theme for this year’s event was "Bridging Regulatory, Strategic, and Operational Perspectives in Cybersecurity."

The workshop began with welcome remarks from Ardi Sutedja, Chairman of the Indonesia Cyber Security Forum. His Excellency, Adriaan Palm, delivered an opening address, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in the realm of cyber law. The official event launch was conducted by Hinsa Siburian, Kepala Badan Siber, and Sandi Negara Republik Indonesia (BSSN).

"We believe the key to such resilience lies in close cooperation between governments, businesses, and knowledge institutions (or 'multistakeholderism’), as well as close international cooperation. Indonesia and the Netherlands are among the most digitalized countries in Asia and Europe. And with that, cyber security is an absolute precondition for keeping our countries safe and up-and-running," said Adriaan.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday (26/06/24), Cyber Law International introduced participants to its comprehensive educational programme, featuring sessions led by renowned experts like Liis Vihul, CEO and Founder of Cyber Law International, and Professor Michael Schmitt, Director of Legal Affairs at Cyber Law International. The day concluded with a networking dinner, fostering deeper discussions among attendees.

The second day commenced with opening remarks by Dr. Pratama Persadha, Chairman of CISSReC, followed by a panel discussion on "Emerging Trends in Indonesia Cyber Law" featuring Pudja Unggul Kartiman, Deputy Chairman and Co-Founder of ICSF, Liis Vihul, and Dr. Pratama Persadha. This insightful session delved into the current and future trends shaping Indonesia's cyber law landscape.

The success of this workshop would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of all participating organizations. We extend our special thanks to the speakers, panellists, and attendees whose active participation and engagement made this event a resounding success//VOI

The winners of best librarian 2024 (Photo : Perpusnas) -

VOInews, Jakarta : National Library librarian Edi Wiyono was selected as the first best in the 2024 National Best Achievement Librarian Selection event. Second best was a librarian from the Parepare City Library Service, Hery. And the third best went to librarian Rahmawati from MAN 4 Aceh Besar.

Deputy for National Library Resource Development, Adin Bondar, on the eve of the election peak, said that the achievements achieved were not easy. A librarian is someone who has competence, both skills, expertise and attitude. A librarian's duties are very heavy, apart from being a library manager and service provider.

"Librarians must ensure that people's rights to information and knowledge are fulfilled for their life skills and the realization of inclusive development goals which are centered on improving the quality of human resources," said Adin.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Thursday (27/0624), the progress of digitalization and artificial intelligence today has an impact on the degradation of library functions, including changes in people's behavior. Like it or not, libraries are also required to improve their service quality.

Libraries need to carry out transformations in the form of creativity and innovation to make them more dynamic, added Adin.

Acting Head of the Center for Librarian Development, Nurcahyono, said that from data on 21 thousand librarians and librarians, only around three thousand have been certified.

"We will continue to improve this because to manage a professional library there are professional people behind it, namely librarians who are equipped with professional competencies," concluded Nurcahyono//VOI

The National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) Hydrography in 2024 in Jakarta, Tuesday (25/06/2024) (Photo : Kemenkomarves) -

VOInews, Jakarta : Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut B. Pandjaitan revealed that the Naval Hydro-Oceanography Center (Pushidrosal) is one of the institutions that has an important role in achieving the vision of Indonesia 2025. He conveyed this while attending the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) Hydrography in 2024 in Jakarta, Tuesday (25/06/2024).

"The results of our study show that Pushidrosal from the start has had a very big role in our Republic, one of which is an important role for the vision of Indonesia 2025," said Coordinating Minister Luhut at the location.

Coordinating Minister Luhut explained that Pushidrosal's intended role was to be part of making Indonesia a high-income country and the center of world maritime civilization. Indonesia must be able to optimize the use and management of maritime resources, one of which is through Pushidrosal.

"In this case, hydrography or seabed mapping is a basic requirement for optimizing the use of maritime resources. "Through detailed seabed mapping, activities in various sectors at sea will increase and produce added value and large employment opportunities," he explained.

Considering that Indonesia is the largest maritime country in the world, continued Coordinating Minister Luhut, Indonesia should be a leader in the maritime sector, including in terms of mapping the Indonesian seabed. Mapping the seabed and maritime resource potential must be a national priority for future development. Indonesia must be able to increase seabed mapping coverage significantly in the next 5-10 years.

"For this reason, it is necessary to strengthen Pushidrosal and increase collaboration between Ministries, Institutions, universities and the private sector. "Apart from that, technology must also be used to speed up seabed mapping, one of which is collaborating with international partners in the short term," he said.

Meanwhile, in the medium to long term, Indonesia must build its fleet capacity to carry out seabed mapping surveys. These steps must be carefully designed in the medium to long term road map for exploration and mapping of the Indonesian seabed, with sufficient funding and budget support to accelerate seabed mapping.

"I told the KSAL (Chief of Naval Staff Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali) that Pushidrosal is an institution whose role must be strengthened further, so that it is more than it is now. We need to strengthen Pushidrosal. "Therefore, I hope that this meeting can get a lot of input for this beloved country," explained Coordinating Minister Luhut.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Tuesday (25/06/24), Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali revealed that through today's momentum, Pushidrosal initiated the National Coordination Meeting on Hydrogaphy with the theme of the importance of hydrogaphy to support national defense and development, which is none other than to show Pushidrosal's fighting spirit to strengthen its existence as an Institution Military Hydrography and National Hydrography in the framework of national development.

"This National Coordination Meeting is also intended as a form of public accountability for Pushidrosal's performance so far, both in the field of defense, support for navigation safety, national and international hydrographic cooperation, as well as public support in other maritime fields," concluded KSAL Muhammad Ali//VOI

Acting Head of the National Library E. Aminudin Aziz simbolically give a book to Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin in Bandung on Tuesday June 25th 2024 (Photo : Perpusnas) -

VOInews, Bandung : The book assistance program for 10 thousand reading rooms in village libraries and community reading parks (TBM) shows evidence of the benefits of the state's presence in society. The literacy emergency that occurs in Indonesia is not due to a low reading culture but rather the absence of reading books that suit the needs of people's reading interest.

"In fact, Commission X of the house of representative formed a Panja to look at Indonesia's literacy condition, the conclusion of which was that Indonesia was facing a literacy emergency," explained Acting Head of the National Library E. Aminudin Aziz at the socialization of the Indonesian Reading Movement program in Bandung, Tuesday (25/6/2024).

When the lack of reading books became a major problem, continued Amin, the National Library tried to synchronize with the program that had been initiated by the Ministry of Education and Culture by providing reading books for children at PAUD and elementary school levels.

“They must be taught correct reading habits. "Because the love of reading must be developed from an early age," he added.

The advancement of the internet has indeed changed people's reading habits. They prefer short reading texts. When given a long text, I become lazy. Even with the presence of the digital world, opinions arise, why do you still have to print books?

Responding to this, Amin emphasized that the ability to increase literacy is actually built when physically reading books. Physical relaxation will be much calmer than having to tire of looking at the screen while reading a digital book. The touch of hand on paper has a psychological impact.

"Therefore, until now the National Library and the Ministry of Education and Culture have never thought about stopping the book printing program because books play a much more important and significant role than reading on a device," he said.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Tuesday (25/06/24), the Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, acknowledged what the Acting Director of National Library said. The party also felt a literacy emergency due to the limited availability of books.

Therefore, the West Java Provincial Government fully supports the National Library's Indonesia Reading Movement. From the assistance of 10 thousand village libraries or TBM, West Java province received 713 villages. Bey considers this effort a joint effort to increase community literacy as development capital//VOI
