Navy warship of the United Kingdom, HMS Albion, is visiting Indonesia and anchoring at Tanjung Priok Port Jakarta for three days, from April 22 to 24, 2018. The vessel is a sea-transport ship from the UK. Built by BAE System Marine at Barrow-inn Furness, Albion was launched in March 2001 by Princess Royal. During anchored in Jakarta, the ship's crews will conduct a series of activities including those involving the Indonesian Navy. In addition, during their visit to Indonesia, the ship crews led by Captain Tim Neild will also take time to visit the orphanage located near the harbor.
“So, by bringing a ship like Albion we look to explore those complementarities to see how we can learn from each other and how we can add each other’s with his capability. So, we can be the better partner together for the future. So, during this deployment, the Albion and the captain will be having a talk and exchanges with the Indonesian Navy. We will be doing that in conjunction with the French colleague. We will also be doing some public diplomacy. You saw the children from the orphanage early on the day. Some sailors will out to the orphanage and will engage with the children. They are looking to understand Indonesian Islam, visit a Pesantren, get the sense on how life is in Indonesia,” said British Ambassador to Indonesia Moazzam Malik in Jakarta on Sunday, April 22.
In addition, Ambassador Moazzam Malik said that HMS Albion's visit in Jakarta is also aimed to invite Indonesia to be more involved in its role in the international world. The Ambassador also said that Indonesia is a G-20 member country with a large economy and democracy. Therefore, the United Kingdom wants to invite Indonesia and see Indonesia more independently. The country also expressed its commitment to cooperate with Indonesia in various fields. (VOI/REZA/Trs.N/AHM)
