Countries which are joined in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are currently seeking independence of vaccine supply and production to face various threat of diseases both old and new infection which causes global pandemic risk. Therefore, Indonesia as a member of the OIC which has ability to produce vaccine and biotechnology is hoped to be able to help the independence of those countries. This was stated by president director of PT Bio Farma, MRahman Roestan who is also OIC Vice Chairman of Vaccine Manufacturers Group after the launching of the Center of Vaccines and Biotechnology on Monday (14/5) in Jakarta.
“It is an independence to produce and to provide vaccine among the OIC member countries. Indonesia is a member of OIC which is most advanced in vaccine and medicine. So that, we show our ability to the OIC countries. And Alhamdullillah thanks GOD,it is begun step by step starting from 2013 in Jakarta until 2017, Indonesia is believed to help the OIC Center of Excellence to produce vaccine and biotechnology. So, the OIC member countries hoped Indonesia to help the independence of vaccine and biotechnology products for the Islamic countries,”MRahman Roestan said.
Until nowadays, not all OIC countries have ability to provide vaccine or medicine which are needed for prophylaxis or treatment especially in handling outbreaks of infectious diseases. Therefore, Rahman Roestan further said that the OIC member countries as group of big countries with many similarity either demography, social, or economy need cooperation and contribute in actualizing the health in the world.
