Japan to Assist Indonesia to Prevent Terrorism during Asian Games 2018

Japanese Foreign Affairs Minister, Taro Kono said that the government of Japan agreed to cooperate in countering terrorism acts with Indonesia. One of the cooperation is providing assistance of a biometric security system grant, in the form of face detector which will be installed at the Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta. The installation of the security system is conducted as a form of increasing security prior to the implementation of Asian Games on Mid August until September 2018. This was stated by minister Taro Kono, after the 6th Strategic Dialogue meeting between Indonesia and Japan in Jakarta on Monday (25/6).

Japan will support activities to counter violent extremism. Japan will provide assistance in the area of counter terrorism as well. Last year, Japan provided a biometric security system in Gelora Bung Karno Stadium for Asian Games 2018, Taro Kono said.

Japanese foreign affairs minister, Taro Kono moreover said that in addition to give the assistance of biometric security systemJapan and Indonesia currently continue to conduct cooperation to give training to other countries on the use of the security system.  Biometric security system which is developed by Japan, is advanced security system which is able to detect face and indentity of tens until hundreds of persons in a short time.
