There are three opportunities that Indonesia should utilize as it assumes the G20 Presidency so that the nation can participate in global economic recovery and advance itself, an official has stated.
"The first is the transition to the green economy. The next one relates to the growing economic digital trend," State Secretariat Ministry's secretary Setya Utama highlighted at a virtual event on Friday.
"The third concerns fixing the global health architecture so that it will be more responsive in handling the global pandemic," he said.
He explained that the world is currently experiencing a double disruption or shift in work as a result of digitalization or automation, which has been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the current less-than-fortunate circumstances, every nation will need to continue to actively produce goods through advanced technology utilization, he said.
To this end, Indonesia's G20 Presidency should be utilized to create a breakthrough and promote real action to recover the socio-economic condition, both nationally and globally, Utama added.
Indonesia's appointment as the G20 host until November marks a new history considering that it is the first time that the multi-lateral cooperation forum is being held in the country since G20 was formed in 1999, he noted.
Through the theme "Recover Together, Recover Stronger," Indonesia has also invited all nations in the world to work together toward collective recovery and grow stronger in a sustainable manner, he said.
"If we can capitalize on this opportunity, we can have this G20 Presidency bring optimal benefits for the good of the nation," he remarked.
Disseminating information on Indonesia's G20 Presidency is important to bolster the public's trust and to yield a positive attitude, director general of public information and communication at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Usman Kansong, said at the same event.
"Disseminated information will arouse positive public participation towards Indonesia's G20 Presidency," he remarked//ANT
