The Ministry of Finance noted that State Sharia Securities, referred to as SBSN (state sukuk), succeeded in financing 4,247 projects across Indonesia worth Rp175.37 trillion during the 2013-2022 period.
"The sukuk is intended to provide equitable development across Indonesia and access to education," Director of Sharia Financing at the Directorate General of Financing and Risk Management at the Ministry of Finance Dwi Irianti Hadiningdyah stated during the launch and opening of the Retail Sukuk series SR016 here on Friday.
For educational development, Indonesia is keen to produce superior Human Resources (HR), one of which is by presenting campuses and schools in all regions whose quality and facilities are not inferior to those on the island of Java.
Irianti detailed the projects that were successfully financed by sukuk, including 576 road and bridge infrastructure projects, worth Rp61.08 trillion.
The others receiving sukuk financing comprised 673 natural resource infrastructure (SDA) projects amounting to Rp30.94 trillion as well as 130 land, sea, and air transportation infrastructure projects and training and education worth Rp52.23 trillion.
The others comprise 76 building projects of State Higher Education (PTN) and two building projects of Higher Education Service Institutions (LLDIKTI) projects worth Rp5.93 trillion, 226 building projects of Hajj embarkation and the Integrated Hajj and Umrah Service Center (PLHUT) amounting to Rp3.36 trillion, and six agricultural facilities projects worth Rp206 billion.
Irianti also drew attention to 166 housing projects at the Ministry of Defense totaling Rp2.53 trillion, 56 housing projects for the National Police worth Rp508 billion, as well as 937 building projects for the State Islamic Religious University (PTKIN) and Islamic schools amounting to Rp12.82 trillion.
Furthermore, there are 1,351 building projects of wedding hall and pilgrimage rehearsal worth Rp1.81 trillion, 19 laboratory projects and research and technology facilities worth Rp2.89 trillion, as well as one phytopharmaceutical facility project and one Industrial vocational high school project valued at Rp118 billion.
Others include 25 national park projects, Forestry Vocational Schools and Environmental Research at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) worth Rp624 billion, one Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics project worth Rp145 billion, and one project to provide halal product guarantees of Rp148 billion.
In 2022, Irianti emphasized that the government is focused on sustainable economic recovery and ways to encourage the economy to continue to grow in the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, including through financing various development projects across Indonesia.
"Hopefully, continuing to build in this pandemic condition will serve as a lever for Indonesia's economic growth, and we will continue to do it this year," she stated.
Amid the pandemic that struck in 2020-2021, Irianti noted that the construction of state sukuk projects could still run well.
The realization can also reach above 90 percent, thereby demonstrating that SBSN projects financed by public investment can offer real benefits and support domestic economic growth, she affirmed//ANT
