Indonesian Vice President, Jusuf Kalla received bilateral visit of Gambian Vice president, Ousaino Darboe at Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta, on Monday (16/7). In the meeting, Vice president Jusuf Kalla was accompanied by Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister, Retno Marsudi. The aim of Vice president Darboe to Indonesia was to invite Indonesia attending the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit which will be conducted in November 2019 in Gambia. In addition, according to minister Retno Marsudi, Indonesia will assist Gambia to prepare the Summit through protocol training and capacity building of police personnel.
“Our team from Ministry of Foreign Affairs will fly to Gambia to help part of protocol. Secondly, the Police will probably conduct assessment on the need of capacity building for Gambian Police,” Retno Marsudi said.
Minister Retno Marsudi moreover added, the meeting of Indonesian and Gambian Vice Presidents also discussed the increasing of cooperation in the field of education, agriculture, and trade. In addition, Indonesia also asked Gambia as member of Economic Community of West African Countries (ECOWAS) to support the proposal of Trade Preferences Agreement in an effort to boost Indonesia's export performance to western Africa. Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is one of products which will become factor to increase export performance to west Africa. (VOI/REZHA/trs/yati/AHM)
