BPOLBF (Executive Agency for the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority) is preparing to develop four tourism development zones in Bowosie Forest, Labuan Bajo, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. The integrated and sustainable tourism area occupies an area of 400 hectares or 1.98% of the total area of Bowosie forest which reaches 20,193 hectares.

BPOLBF President Director Shana Fatina said the development of this area will be divided into 4 zones including a cultural zone, an adventure zone, a wildlife zone, and an entertainment zone.

"The first is the cultural zone, with the concept of highlighting the culture of Flores and NTT by highlighting the uniqueness and diversity of the culture of Flores and NTT as a tourist attraction. This zone will feature attractions such as Hikayat Komodo, Culture Performance Art, Museums, local cultural galleries, Agriculture Tourism and Pray hill. Second, the Wild Nature Zone with the concept of keeping the exoticism of wild life going hand in hand and becoming a tourist attraction, as a space to show the Komodo dragon biosphere reserve to tourists. Inside it will feature the Natural Reserve Gallery, Mini Zoo, night safari and lumina forest attractions," said Shana Fatina.

Next, continued Shana, the Adventure zone with the concept of providing adventures and various outdoor activities that are unique and different. It will feature attractions such as glamping, hiking and biking tracks, zipline coasters, tree top net playgrounds, sky coasters, ATV offroad tracks, tree top cycling, glass walkways, flying fox and outbound packages. And finally the Entertainment zone with the concept of making a destination that provides various entertainment activities and self-treatment, which contains various attractions such as sky restaurant, wedding venue, sunset view point, spa and wellness, forest pavilion and park area.

"The Labuan Bajo Authority Area will become a landmark representation of the Komodo dragon biosphere reserve, because it not only creates a play space for humans but also a play space for animals, nature complete with its ecosystem. Therefore we conducted an in-depth EIA study, it is hoped that Labuan Bajo's biodiversity can come back to life and sustainable," said Shana Fatina.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Saturday (09/07/22), the position of the tourism authority area was very strategic, located above the city of Labuan Bajo and clearly visible from Komodo Airport, very suitable for international meeting activities, such as the Asian Summit and other MICE activities.

He revealed that developing tourism in Labuan Bajo requires caution so as not to change the landscape that can affect the socio-cultural environment of the surrounding community. The development of tourist attractions, both natural, cultural and artificial attractions is absolutely necessary in order to seize the opportunity of Labuan Bajo as a leading tourist destination and increase the stay of tourists.

"Availability of amenities with local entities and blends with nature will increase tourist attraction because it presents something unique. The key is the harmonization of nature and social culture of the community, therefore the involvement of the surrounding community is absolutely necessary in the development of the Authority area," concluded Shana Fatina//VOI
