Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo said inflation control is very important to control food prices. Therefore, people's purchasing power is not eroded.

"So that Indonesia can continue to progress and its people prosper," said Perry when launching the National Food Inflation Control Movement, Wednesday (10/8/2022).

Perry said that Indonesia's current inflation rate is still relatively low at 4.9 percent in the second quarter of 2022. However, volatile food price inflation has reached 11.4 percent.

"We must be able to reduce volatile price inflation between 5-6 percent," he said

He also reminded, the world is currently in turmoil. The economies of many countries are experiencing a decline in the direction of stagflation.

In addition, the Russia-Ukraine geopolitical conflict has caused energy and food prices to soar. The impact can have an impact on food prices in the country.

On the same occasion, member of Commission XI DPR-RI, Andreas Eddy Susetyo, expressed his support for the National Movement for Food Inflation Control.

"From my point of view, food inflation is more due to rising prices for horticultural products, which should be overcome by planting horticultural trees. To reduce pressure on food prices," said Andreas.

For the regions, said Andreas, the government has also budgeted a Special Allocation Fund for food security.

"There are four inflation control strategies, namely supply availability, smooth distribution, affordability of prices and effective communication. In essence, from all of this, mutual cooperation is our main social capital, in preventing inflation," he said. (RRI)
