President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that 800 million people in the world are threatened with acute food shortages and starvation. This happened due to the food crisis that hit the world.

"More than 300 million people are currently experiencing acute food shortages and hunger in several countries. We have started, started, started," said the President while reviewing the development of early maturing coconut in Giriroto Village, Ngemplak, Boyolali, Central Java, Thursday (11/8/2011). 2022).

"And it is estimated that if there is no solution, 800 million people will suffer from food shortages and starvation," he said.

Responding to this situation, the Head of State asked all parties to cultivate land that has not been used so far to become productive. For example, for chili needs, people can plant in their respective yards using polybag planting media.

"This is why we want unproductive lands to be productive. Chili matters, business, this is what households in these villages should be able to plant," he said.

"In polybags or in the yard. So there is no such thing as a shortage of chili peppers or chili prices going up drastically," he said.

The President also said that the Ministry of Agriculture is also aggressively planting early coconuts on unproductive lands. However, the results of these plantings can only be seen in the next two years.

"Early coconut which will produce 2 years, 2.5 years, a year can produce 180 pieces of one tree. That one can be made of palm sugar, coconut oil can be made, which can also be sold for fresh drinks," he said, adding.

Early coconuts have been planted in Solo Raya, Boyolali, Karanganyar, and Sukoharjo. Later, this planting will also be carried out in other provinces.

"In Boyolali we distribute 46 thousand, in Karanganyar we share 44 thousand and in Sukoharjo 110 thousand early coconuts. This has only started here (Boyolali), later in the provinces where coconuts can live well, we will plant them," said the President. .

The President said, it is targeted that approximately one million early maturing coconuts will be planted. Apart from cannabis, there are other commodities such as corn and chilies. (RRI)
