President Joko Widodo met with leaders of high state institutions at the State Palace, Jakarta, Friday (12/8/2022). The meeting discussed the current global crisis in several countries in the world.

"We are talking about the global crisis related to the food, energy and financial crisis," said President Jokowi. "We discussed the global crisis in relation to our domestic conditions," he continued.

The Head of State further explained that the meeting also discussed government subsidies in anticipation of rising energy prices. The President said that currently Indonesia has provided a fairly large subsidy using the State Budget (APBN).

"The state subsidy has reached Rp502 trillion because it has to hold the price of Pertalite, gas and electricity," he said. However, Jokowi continued, the question is whether the fantastic subsidy can still be maintained.

Therefore, the President asked his staff to continue to be vigilant if the State Budget is no longer strong enough to provide subsidies for fuel oil (BBM). This is because the impact is an increase in fuel prices which will trigger an increase in the price of other commodities.

"If it is possible, thank God because the people are not burdened. But what if the state budget is not strong enough?," said the President. Moreover, the price of fuel in other countries has doubled from before.

At the meeting, the President also conveyed information related to the current state of the national economy. Including the state budget and revenues.

"We conveyed to him the facts and figures," said the President. "If we still get income from commodities that are still running well, we will do it, but if not?"

Accompanying the President at the meeting was Minister of State Secretary Pratikno. Meanwhile, the leaders of state institutions that attended included MPR Chair Bambang Soesatyo and DPR Chair Puan Maharani. In addition, the chairman of the DPD, La Nyalla Mattalitti, the chairman of the BPK, Isma Yatun, and the chairman of the Constitutional Court, Anwar Usman. Chairman of KY Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata and Chairman of MA M. Syarifuddin were also present. (RRI)
