Minister of Communications and Informatics Johnny G. Plate said Kominfo has prepared telecommunications networks and frequency spectrum security and monitoring. This was done to support the implementation of the G20 Indonesia Summit.

“Kominfo has prepared a telecommunications network, not only networks in Bali and around the implementation of the activities of the G20 Indonesia Presidency. In the Bali area, there are 7,500 Base Transceiver Stations for 4G and more than 30 5G BTS," he said at the G20 Summit Preparation Coordination Meeting, at the Apurva Kempinski Hotel, Badung, Bali, Tuesday (30/8/2022).

Johnny emphasized that if there were problems with the telecommunication network during the implementation of the G20 KKT. His party has prepared a backup network as in the implementation of the National Sports Week (PON) last year.

"We are preparing a backup network as in the implementation of the PON in Papua last year. We set up broadband backbone networks. For the redundancy, we prepare the fiber optic backbone network as well as satellite and radio links for ICT infrastructure, all telecommunications and fiber optic operators are alerted. Including the legal umbrella if we have to use international routes,” he explained.

Meanwhile, related to navigational security and flight safety, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics has alerted the Radio Frequency Spectrum Monitoring Center of the Directorate General of Postal and Information Technology Equipment Resources. Later the hall will monitor frequencies in the airspace of Surabaya, Banyuwangi, Denpasar and Mataram.

“We have prepared Spectrum Frequency Analyzer equipment to analyze the entire moving spectrum here for VVIP flight safety to avoid interception and interference. This collaboration is necessary between Kominfo, the Indonesian Air Force, and the Ministry of Transportation," he explained.

Johnny stated that currently he is also preparing three layered surveillance system mechanisms to monitor bandwidth and network availability. According to him, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics has a monitoring center to monitor the quality of telecommunication services and monitor the condition of Indonesia's digital space.

“Kominfo monitors bandwidth quality of service and quality of experience throughout Indonesia. Furthermore, through the BLU BAKTI surveillance system, Kominfo monitors satellite networks, radio link networks, and fiber optic networks. Then, through the cyber drone, the Directorate General of Aptika is fully operational in monitoring the condition of Indonesia's digital space, such as the distribution of fake news based on lawful interceptions," he said.
