The Papua Football Academy (PFA) at the Lukas Enembe Stadium, Jayapura Regency, Papua has been inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo. The Main Expert Staff of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Theo Litaay hopes that the inauguration of the PFA can improve the achievements of Indonesian football.

According to him, PFA exists as a form of government investment, because seeing the potential of Papuan football talent is so extraordinary. "In Papua, soccer is very popular," he told Pro3 RRI, Wednesday (31/8/2022).

It is hoped that with the development of this potential, there will be football players from Papua who have international standard quality. "From the existing potential, it is hoped that later it can also develop for the welfare of the community," he said.

PFA is a place to learn football and formal education for Papuan sons. PFA was created to prepare students to be competitive, creative, and competitive individuals.

This football school will be managed by Wolfgang Pikal as technical director. The former assistant coach of the Indonesian national team will work with coaches such as Ardiles Rumbiak, Kelly Pepuho, and Melky Papare. (RRI)
