The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) stated that no Indonesian citizens (WNI) were victims of the explosion in Turkey. It was previously reported that a bomb exploded in the center of Istanbul on Sunday (11/14/2022) at 16:20 local time.

As a result of the explosion, as many as six people were killed and 81 people were injured. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, before leaving for Bali for the G20 summit, called it a 'heinous attack reeks of terrorism'.

"Until now, there is no information about Indonesian citizens who are victims," said a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Monday (14/11/2022). It was stated that the Indonesian Embassy in Ankara and the Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul had coordinated with local authorities and the Indonesian community around the location.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are currently around 500 Indonesian citizens living in Istanbul. The location of the bomb explosion on Istiklal Avenue is one of the favorite destinations for foreign tourists, including Indonesian citizens.

For this reason, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs asks Indonesian citizens in Istanbul and its surroundings to be vigilant. "Avoid crowded places if there is no urgent need," said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In addition, Indonesian citizens there are also asked to contact local authorities and Indonesian representatives if they experience an emergency. The Indonesian government condemns the bomb attack in Istanbul and hopes that the perpetrators are immediately arrested. (RRI)
