President Jokowi Holds Meeting with President Erdogan

President Joko Widodo held a bilateral meeting with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyib Erdogan, Monday (14/11), at The Apurva Kempinski Bali.

President Joko Widodo expressed his appreciation to Turkey which continues to contribute so that the G20 can continue to work.

“Thank you for coming to the G20 Summit. For Indonesia, the G20 must be able to produce concrete cooperation," said the President.

As two world leaders who are both concerned about efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the two presidents also exchanged ideas on what can be done together to find a peaceful solution and to prevent negative impacts globally, particularly on food and energy security.

With regard to bilateral relations, President Joko Widodo encouraged the two countries to continue to work on negotiating the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which includes major trade agreements to be finalized as soon as possible.

"We must instruct the negotiators so that existing obstacles are immediately sought for a solution that is acceptable to both parties and an agreement is immediately finalized," said the Head of State.

The two Presidents also noted progress in bilateral relations between the two countries by signing a number of strategic agreements between governments and between business actors.

Several agreements between the government that were signed by the Ministers shortly before the meeting of the two Presidents included agreements in the fields of defence, forestry, environment, research-technology and innovation as well as development cooperation agreements.

While the agreement between business actors includes an agreement on electric bus production cooperation in Indonesia between Karsan and Credo Group as well as an agreement for the construction of the Trans-Sumatera Toll Road.

During the meeting, President Joko Widodo was accompanied by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Indonesian Ambassador to Ankara Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, and Director General for America Europe Ministry of Foreign Affairs Umar Hadi.
