President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) emphasized that the implementation of the G20 Summit must not fail. The President reminded that all eyes of the world are currently on the G20 meeting in Bali.

This was conveyed by the President in his remarks at the opening of the G20 Summit, at The Apurva Kempinski, Bali, Tuesday (15/11/2022). "Your Excellency, today the eyes of the world are on our meeting," said President Jokowi.

"Are we going to score success?, or are we going to add one more failure rate? For me, the G20 must succeed and cannot fail," he said.

President Jokowi explained that Indonesia has made every effort to bridge differences that are very deep and wide. However, according to him, success will only be achieved if all parties, without exception, unite.

"However, success can only be achieved if all of us, without exception, are committed, work hard, set aside differences," he said. This, the President continued, is to produce something concrete and useful for the world.

The President then gave an example, Indonesia which has 17,000 islands, 1,300 ethnic groups, and more than 700 regional languages. Under these conditions, said the President, democracy in Indonesia runs from the village level to the state level.

Democracy in Indonesia starts from the village level, village head elections. Up to the state level, elections for president, governors, regents and mayors.

The President said the world and the G20 did not have many choices. The collaboration of all parties is needed to save the world.

"We have no other choice. A collaborative paradigm is urgently needed to save the world," said the President.

"We all have a responsibility not only to our people but also to the people of the world. Being responsible means consistently respecting international law and the principles of the UN Charter," he said. (RRI)
