The presidency of the G20 Summit is a golden momentum for Indonesia-UK diplomatic relations. This was conveyed by British Ambassador to Indonesia Owen Jenkins.
"I feel very fortunate to be in Indonesia. This is the golden age of good relations between the two countries," Ambassador Owen told journalists, Wednesday (16/11/2022).
He considered that the relations between the two countries had been very good so far. Of course, with various collaborations in various fields.
"I think relations between the two countries are in very good condition. I think both Indonesia and the UK see great potential for the two countries to work together in a number of fields and sectors," he said.
Regarding the theme of the G20 Indonesia presidency 'Recovering Together, Recovering Stronger', Owen believes that this theme has represented the concerns of all countries after the pandemic. Especially those that have an impact on countries in the world in many aspects, both economic, educational and cultural.
"Of course I think it is the right jargon as well as the theme needed by the world today. And I think that when Indonesia adopted this jargon it was very appropriate," he said.
Furthermore, he also mentioned the other benefits of the G20 for relations between Indonesia and the UK, especially economic benefits. According to Owen, the two countries will gain a lot of economic benefits from Indonesia's G20 Presidency.
"Currently we still have very close cooperation. In the renewable energy transition sector," he said.
"I think both countries can benefit tremendously from the G20 presidency. And like my previous statement, the priority issue is also a stimulus to boost the economies of both countries, both for Britain and Indonesia," he said. (RRI)
