Indonesia's G20 presidency was officially handed over to India, coinciding with the end of the G20 Summit, Wednesday (16/11/2022), in Nusa Dua, Bali. Leaders of member countries expressed their appreciation for Indonesia's G20 Presidency over the past year.
President of Turkey, Recep Tayyib Erdogan said, Indonesia was successful in carrying out a leadership role in the midst of various world challenges. His party also specifically paid tribute to the Indonesian Presidency in the G20.
"I also want to express my appreciation to the Indonesian Presidency and wish success to the next India presidency," Erdogan said in a press conference that was held after the closing of the G20 Summit, at the Media Center, Bali International Convention Center (BICC), Wednesday (16/11/ 2022) afternoon.
Erdogan is optimistic that the G20 can overcome economic challenges with a solution-oriented approach. He hoped that the various promises and agreements reached during the Summit would have an impact on global political and economic stability.
"In this case, I hope that the consultations and promises that we made over the last two days will produce positive results for global political and economic stability," he said.
The same opinion regarding the success of Indonesia's G20 Presidency, was also conveyed by the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Ono Hikariko. Ono said Japan appreciated the strong leadership taken by President Jokowi.
"We really appreciate the strong leadership taken by President Jokowi to make thorough arrangements and make this summit possible," Ono said in a limited meeting with national media at the Media Center.
Japan also praised the leaders' communiqué achieved at the summit, having many substantive elements. "So, we are really excited about this document because as I said, it could be a big step forward in terms of the fact that we are going to have a G7 meeting," Ono added.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed his appreciation for Indonesia's G20 Presidency, which he said was carried out in the midst of today's challenging world conditions. This was conveyed by Sunak in a press conference, at the Hilton Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali, Wednesday (16/11/2022) afternoon.
"I would like to thank the president of Indonesia, President Joko Widodo for the role he has played in hosting these discussions and leading the G20 at this challenging time," said Rishi.
The new British PM said that the communiqué produced at the Summit was also the work of the entire Indonesian team which deserves to be appreciated too. "But the communiqué released today is substantive. It is comprehensive. It is action oriented," explained Rishi.
"And, I think the President and his team deserve tremendous credit for the leadership they have shown over the year, especially over the last few days," he continued. (RRI)
