The success of the Government of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in holding the G20 Summit in Bali on 15-16 November 2022, as proof of Indonesia's presence, is not just a formality. This was conveyed by the Postgraduate Director of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Asep Saepudin Jahar.
"I think the G20 moment has become a world record that Indonesia's presence is not a formality because it takes turns leading the G20. However, Indonesia is concretely showing serious concern," said Asep in his statement, Friday (18/11/2022).
In terms of energy and climate, he said, President Jokowi gave an example of mangrove trees or mangroves which play an important role in protecting the seafront and air system. Then related to health, he continued, Indonesia directly contributed around 50 million dollars.
"This means that in the future Indonesia must continue to voice issues of economic justice, health, energy, and peace. I think Indonesia is no longer seen as a random country," he said.
In addition, he sees the G20 showing that Indonesia is a big country that has invited the world, especially superpower countries such as America, China, and Europe. To realize universal justice like other countries and maintain world peace.
"Indonesia has succeeded in voicing justice for middle and lower-income countries to receive attention in economic justice, health, food, energy, and peace. It is an achievement that Indonesia is a strategic country for the world, especially since it is also a Muslim-majority country in the world," he said.
Besides that, Asep assessed that the government had succeeded in showing Indonesia as a strategic country to partner with. Moreover, Indonesia is rich in energy and mineral resources.
"Indonesia, in a Muslim-majority country, shows the world that Indonesian Islam truly values diversity and tolerance for living well. I think Indonesia will be a model for the world in terms of complex religious and socio-cultural life," he said.
Of course, Asep added that the success of holding the G20 in Bali, of course, the security forces, both the TNI, Polri, and other elements, made the situation conducive. So, the guests of the world's countries feel safe and comfortable following the G20 Presidency in Bali.
“In fact, French President Macron, walked casually to the place of the walking event and greeted residents in a relaxed manner, a conducive level of security. This shows Indonesia's capability in terms of security services, and this is the successful collaboration of various elements, especially the Police, TNI, and intelligence working well," he said.
It is known that President Jokowi had a meeting with United States President Joe Biden at The Apurva Kempinski Bali on Monday, November 14, 2022. During the meeting, Jokowi expressed his gratitude for President Biden's presence at the G20 Summit in Indonesia.
“President Biden, welcome to Bali. I appreciate President Biden's presence at the G20 Summit," said President Jokowi. (RRI)
