President Jokowi: Indonesia's Inflation is Still Under Control

President Joko Widodo said Indonesia could manage its economy and keep inflation under control. Although, President Jokowi also mentioned the impact of the war in Ukraine, because it made world food prices soar.

"Thank God, we can manage our economic recovery well. Thank God, our inflation is still under control, still in the range of 5.7 percent," President Jokowi said during the opening speech of the 48th Muktamar Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah at Manahan Stadium, Surakarta, Central Java , Saturday (19/11/2022).

"That is, the average price increase (Indonesia) is around five percent, this is much lower than the world's average inflation. And the average inflation in countries in the world, we should be grateful for," said President Jokowi.

According to him, in the midst of tough and very difficult challenges at this time, all of that is not easy to face. "However, the pandemic is not over. A new problem has emerged, the war in Ukraine, which has damaged global supply chains," he said.

"Therefore, food prices have risen. Fuel prices and electricity prices have also increased sharply in all countries in the world," said President Jokowi.

President Jokowi revealed the role of the Central Executive (PP) Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir and PP Aisyiyah in assisting the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Over the past three years, thank you for mobilizing more than 120 Muhammadiyah hospitals. And 235 health clinics belonging to Muhammadiyah who are actively educating the public, as well as treatment and vaccination during a pandemic," said President Jokowi.

President Jokowi also said the country's success in getting through the pandemic. "Thank God, Indonesia is one of the countries that has succeeded in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic, and we are among the countries with the most vaccinations in the world," said President Jokowi, quoted from the RRI NET live broadcast.

This is because, said President Jokowi, as many as 440 million doses of Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered to the public. "Our success in this pandemic has become an important foundation in controlling our national economy," said President Jokowi. (RRI)
