Asean Ministers Retreat Concludes On Myanmar Crisis, Indo Pacific

Jakarta (voinews.id): Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi delivered the outcome of theASEAN Foreign Ministers Retreat in Jakarta on Saturday.

Speaking to the press, Retno stated that the ministers agreed on implementing the 5 point consensus which also concerning the Myanmar crisis.

"As mandated by Leaders, as Chair, Indonesia has proposed and deliberated on the Implementation Plan of the 5 point consensus," she said.

The retreat also discussed the execution of Indo Pacific outlook, among other issues including external relations and global issues.

"We agreed on the implementation of the Asean Outlook on the Indo Pacific (AIOP)," Retno said.

"We discussed ways to bolster partnership with the European Union, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Canada, Australia, and Japan, including by intensifying engagements at the highest level," she added.

The 10 countries association, also including Timor Leste that soon going to have full membership, are also committed to promote implementation of the Code of Conduct (COC).

"Indonesia is ready to host more rounds of COC negotiation this year, the first one will be in March,"

The second day of the retreat wraps up the 32nd Asean Coordinating Council Meeting and the Asean Ministerial Meeting that was held on Friday and Saturday, 3-4 February 2023. (VOI/Yasmin)
