(voinews.id) Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati encourages gender equality in the digital and green economy where women can gain access, equal roles and jobs in the world's economy. This was conveyed by Sri Mulyani in Jakarta, Tuesday evening.

As a speaker at a global event entitled Empowering Women to Shape the Future of Jobs which airs on the World Bank's YouTube monitored by ANTARA, the Minister of Finance said that there are a number of toughest obstacles for women to be able to participate in the digital and green economy that must be overcome.

These obstacles include, among others, family values, culture, religion, regulations, as well as views about women who are considered less competent because they do not have education in the fields of technology and mathematics.

Therefore, Sri Mulyani said it was necessary to promote more women so that they could fulfill the requirements or participate not only in basic education but also higher education including in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

According to the Minister of Finance, many businesses are now turning into digital platforms and markets, and these conditions provide flexibility for women to be able to stay at home taking care of their children and household while being more productive by using entrepreneurial skills to access the market.
