Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Holds a Bilateral Meeting with Australian Foreign Affairs Minister

Indonesian foreign affairs minister Retno Marsudi held a bilteral meeting with Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne during the 73rd UN Security Council General Assembly in New York on Tuesday (25/9/2018). That is the first opportunity for the two ministers to meet after Marise Payne replacing Julie Bishop. During the meeting they were discussing several issues such as the visit of Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morilrison to Indonesia last month and Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). According to the press release received by Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday (26/9/2018) Retno Mrsudi stated her gratitude to Australia for its support in the Pacific Island Forum cooperation (PIF) and on a consistency on Indonesia territorial integrity admittance.

This is a new kind of partnership because Payne hold a portfolio as foreign affairs minister and I also express my gratitude to Australia for having a good cooperation in supporting Indonesia on the Pacific Island Forum cooperation and Australia's consistency to Indonesia territorial integrity,” Retno Mrasudi said.

Moreover Marsudi also discuss Indonesia's invitation to Australia to participate in Our Ocean Conference that will be held in Bali on October. Generally there are no bilateral issues discussed deeply because the meeting symbolically stated new partnership//Reza/trans : NK
