“We were also in New York at that time; I was at one of the sessions coinciding with the Minister of Maritime Affairs. He also declared with extraordinary commitment from the Indonesian government to really fight plastic waste, especially the trash coming to the ocean. There was also a solution presented from Indonesia with the availability of an extraordinary amount of cassava which turned out to make biodegradable plastic with cassava-based material. It’s very economical, competitive and could be part of the solution,” Tommy Tjiptadjadja said.
Tommy Tjiptadjadja also affirmed that the innovation carried out by Indonesia received appreciation from the international community with the frequent participation of Indonesia in international forums which are fully funded by the committee.
