Indonesian coffee varieties such as Aceh Gayo, Sunda Arumanis, Bali Kintamani, and Toraja were showcased to coffee entrepreneurs and connoisseurs at an exhibition in Istanbul, Turkey, on June 27-30, 2024.

The Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) to Istanbul Darianto Harsono said in a statement on Monday (1/7) that the "Coffex Istanbul 2024" exhibition was attended by exhibitors from six countries and visited by more than 20,000 people.

Quoted by Antara, Indonesia's participation in Turkey's largest coffee exhibition is considered important because the market share of Indonesian coffee in Turkey is currently only around 0.4 percent of the total coffee imported by the country. Darianto noted that this figure contrasts with Indonesia's real potential as one of the world's largest coffee producers.

The Coffex Istanbul exhibition is seen as the right momentum to increase the Turkish public's knowledge of Indonesian coffee and build networks among fellow entrepreneurs in the coffee and cocoa sector.

Besides various types of coffee, from green beans to ready-to-brew coffee, the Indonesian Pavilion at Coffex Istanbul 2024 also presents vanilla and cocoa powder.

The Consulate General of Indonesia (KJRI) in Istanbul specially invited the runner-up of Indonesia Barista Championship 2022, Kelvin Delviro, to brew the best coffee beans. The Consulate General also collaborated with five Indonesian coffee entrepreneurs, namely Anjali, Catur Coffee, Iceh Agro, Kelleng, and Tanamera. According to the Consulate General in Istanbul, visitors to the Indonesian Pavilion praised and recognized the excellence of Indonesian coffee.

More than 50 purchase requests resulted from Indonesia's participation in this exhibition. There were initial purchase commitments from several buyers for three containers of Arabica and Robusta coffee, valued at 400,000 dollars (approximately IDR 6.5 billion), through the signing of letters of intent (LoI) between Aceh Agro and Oggetti Metal Sanayi and Hancioglu Kahve. The Indonesian Consulate General in Istanbul stated that it will continue to market Indonesian coffee with the right product and target strategy.
