Indonesia to open representative office in Chengdu

VOI News, Jakarta: Indonesia will open a Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, People's Republic of China (PRC). This was revealed in a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi and her Chinese counterpart, Minister Wang Yi in Beijing on Friday (23/8). 

In a statement received in Jakarta, Minister Retno Marsudi explained that  the step to open the Indonesian Representative Office in Chengdu proves that Indonesia is committed to strengthening bilateral relations with China.

 

At the meeting, Indonesia also conveyed the decision to open the Indonesian Consulate General in Chengdu as a reflection of its commitment to keep improving bilateral relations, and Indonesia asked for the support of the Chinese government in the process of opening the Consulate General in Chenged, she conveyed.


Furthermore, Minister Retno Marsudi also explained that currently, Indonesia has three representatives in China in addition to the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, namely the Indonesian Consulate General in Guangzhou, Indonesian Consulate General in Shanghai and Indonesian Consulate General in Hong Kong.
