VOINews, Jakarta: Indonesia joined the Riyadh Season festival in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, offering popular culinary specialties like satay and rawon to a global audience. According to data from ANTARA and local event organizers, the Indonesian community in Riyadh will also showcase traditional dishes such as nasi uduk and pecel during the internationally celebrated festival.
In addition to food, the Indonesian community is displaying a variety of traditional handicrafts, including woven textiles and batik, and is presenting a range of traditional dances, enhancing the cultural exchange at the event. The presentation will also feature regional costumes, folk songs, and wood crafts, with the goal of introducing global attendees to Indonesia’s unique cultural and tourism assets, thereby increasing interest in Indonesian products and destinations.
Riyadh Season is an initiative led by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Media, aimed at highlighting various aspects of life within the Kingdom, including professional lives, family activities, and social and recreational engagements. This initiative also emphasizes the Saudi government and private sector's efforts to enhance urban life quality throughout the country.
In partnership with the General Entertainment Authority, the Ministry of Media has curated numerous activities for Riyadh Season, which commenced on August 13. These activities showcase cultural and artistic performances and draw participation from influential media representatives across Arab-majority nations.
The cultural festival highlights the heritage of nine countries—India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Pakistan, Yemen, Sudan, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Bangladesh, and Egypt. Each participating country will host various events over the 45-day Riyadh Season, including concerts, cultural exhibitions, traditional food presentations, and handicraft showcases, presenting an enriched view of each nation's culture./ANTARA/VOI
