VOInews, Jakarta : E. Aminudin Aziz was officially appointed as Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpusnas). The inauguration procession was carried out by the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Dikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti at Graha Utama, Building A Floor 3, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/1/2025).

In his speech, Minister Abdul Mu'ti emphasized that the Ministry of Basic Education has the main task, namely to educate the nation's children.

"This is a very important task, which determines the honor and dignity of the nation in the future," he said.

Minister Abdul Mu'ti hopes for innovation and smart breakthroughs that do not abandon the good practices that have been pioneered previously.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the leaders who were appointed should be courteus individuals.

"You must be a leader who is loyal, trustworthy, nationalist, exemplary, superior and ambitious," he explained.

Before being appointed, E. Aminudin Aziz served as acting (Plt.) Head of National Library for 13 months. After being appointed, the man who is familiarly called Amin admitted that during his tenure as Plt., he found many challenges that had to be faced in order to find a solution.

He explained that the duties and functions of the National Library in accordance with regulations were to oversee the literacy program. For this reason, the understanding of the library as a place to store books and collections must be updated.

“Libraries can no longer be interpreted as a place to store books and collections. Because in fact there has been a transformation of the library function itself. "Currently, its function is as a vehicle for people to participate in developing their creativity through the facilities provided," he explained.

He emphasized that public literacy can be improved for the better by being supported by existing facilities in libraries such as manuscripts, collections and networks.

"Therefore, I as head will confirm the program that has been initiated in the last 13 months, so that it is more structured and massive," he stressed.

According to a release received by Voice of Indonesia on Tuesday January 7th 2025, in 2024, there are three priority programs initiated by E. Aminudin Aziz as acting (Plt.) Head of National Library, First improving reading culture and literacy skills, mainstreaming Indonesian manuscripts, as well as library standardization and accreditation.

"I want to oversee the priority programs that have been created and coordinate with other ministries and institutions that carry out the same programs, so that the literacy of the Indonesian people and students in schools becomes better day by day thanks to the facilities created, one of which is the library," he concluded.

E. Aminudin Aziz was appointed as Plt. Head of the National Library on November 23 2023. Since May 8 2020, he has been appointed as Head of the Language Agency.
