President Joko Widodo received a number of honorary visits by a number of Heads of State ahead of the inauguration of the President and Vice President for the 2019-2024 period at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

They were Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Sultan Hasanal Bolkiah, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morison, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, and Raja Eswatini Mswati III.  

On that occasion the President was accompanied by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.  

To reporters, Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi said, the heads of state were present at the Jakarta Merdeka Palace to congratulate President Joko Widodo after being elected as President of the Republic of Indonesia for the 2019-2024 period. 

The Heads of State, according to Retno also expressed optimism that President Joko Widodo would be able to bring Indonesia towards a better direction in the second period of his leadership.

Meanwhile President Joko Widodo, according to Retno, expressed his appreciation for the presence of the Heads of State at the Merdeka Palace today. Jokowi also expressed his commitment to continue to improve bilateral relations with friendly countries.

“He conveyed his congratulations to the president for the next term and believes in bringing a better Indonesian. Second, they conveyed the commitment to strengthen bilateral relations with Indonesia. The President thanked the guests who came far to attend and the President conveyed the same commitment that Indonesia strengthened bilaterally,” said Retno Marsudi.

In addition to the morning before the inauguration, President Joko Widodo is also scheduled to receive an honorary visit from other heads of state after the inauguration of the President and Vice President at the MPR RI building.

The meeting is scheduled to be held Sunday evening and will receive an Honorary Visit from the Head of State and Special Envoy.  

Among them were the honorary visit of the Vice President of the People's Republic of China, Vice President of Viet Nam, and Vice President of Myanmar. 

Jokowi will also receive a number of special envoys from friendly countries, including the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Korea, the Philippines, Japan United Arab Emirates and the United States. (VOI/Ndy)
