Indonesia prepares to hold a consultation meeting in a bid to discuss Indonesia's mineral and coal policy with the European Union.  The preparation of the consultation meeting was discussed in a consolidation meeting between Indonesian Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and related ministries / institutions and stakeholders in the mining sector on Tuesday (7/1) at the Ministry of Trade Office, Jakarta. The consultation meeting between Indonesia and the European Union is scheduled to take place on 30th January 2020 at the office of the International Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland. Previously, Indonesia had agreed to a request for consultation by the European Union within the framework of the WTO to discuss Indonesia's mineral and coal policies on 29 November 2019.

Tension  between the United States and Iran has escalated.  The enmity has escalated after the death of Iran's supreme commander Qassem Soleimani in the US air strikes ordered by President Donald Trump.  In response to the conflict, Indonesian  Ministry of foreign affair acting Spokesman /  Teuku Faizasyah, in Jakarta on Monday, 1/6 approved that his side has issued  alertness appeal for Indonesian citizens living in Iran and Iraq.  Regarding with  developments in the US and Iran relations, both Indonesian embassies in Iraq and  Iran have issued an appeal to Indonesian citizens to raise alertness.

President Joko Widodo is scheduled to hold his first official working visit in 2020 to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), with a focus on increasing cooperation in the economic-energy sector that will bring an investment agreement worth 18.8 billion US dollars. Indonesian Foreign Minister  / Retno Marsudi explained  on Tuesday  that the President's major objective to Abu Dhabi is a bilateral meeting with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Abu Dhabi Vice-President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on 11-13 January 2020. The focus of the official working visit will be on investment cooperation in the field of  oil and gas and mineral.
