President Joko Widodo handed over 3,850 land certificates to the people of South Sulawesi from Takalar, Bantaeng, Bulukumba, Jeneponto, Gowa and Makassar. The handover was conducted at Makattang Daeng Sibali Field, Kalabbirang Village, Pattallasang Sub-district, Takalar District, South Sulawesi Province, Thursday, February 15, 2018.

According to Law No. 5 of 1960 on Agrarian Principles, the Land Ownership must be completed with certificates. Therefore having this certificate will provide a sense of security to the owner.
"No one can claim because there are names in the certificate and size of land" said the President.

The President revealed that in the past, the government could only hand over 500 thousand land certificates across Indonesia each year.
In 2017 the government distributed as many as 5 million certificates.

"This year's target is 7 million certificates and for next year a total of 9 million certificates will be distributed," said the Head of State. (Release: Protocol, Press and Media Secretariat of the President)
