Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia, Rusdi Kirana, stated that it is time for Indonesia to do a temporary moratorium on sending Indonesian Migrant Workers. He added Moratorium should be done, to give opportunities to restructure employment administration process, so that in the future there will be no adverse incident harming the Indonesian Migrant Workers in Malaysia, especially workers at the informal sector such as household assistants.
“The moratorium is very important, not for good, only temporary, but in the meantime what has to be done for us is restructuring. We have employment administration process there. If the incident like Adelina's happen again, it will harm the good name of Indonesia, as well as the good name of Malaysia, and the relationship of these two countries will not be good. I'm sure Malaysian officials are really angry with this incident,” Rusdi Kirana said to the media at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of RI, Jakarta, recently.
In connection with the death of Indonesian Migrant Workers from East Nusa Tenggara, Adelina Jemirah, in Penang, Malaysia, Rusdi Kirana stated that he will continue to seek to get all her rights and justice in the legal process. So far, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia still continues to provide assistance to Adelina.
