Indonesians in Minneapolis remain secure and safe, as violent protests and fires broke out in this largest city in the US State of Minnesota, over the past 72 hours after African-American George Floyd’s recent death. In its press statement, quoted by Antara, the Indonesian Consulate General in Chicago, confirmed the safe and secure condition of Indonesians, in the major metropolitan areas of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. The Indonesian Consulate General in Chicago has communicated with the Indonesian citizens in the Twin Cities area, it stated. George Floyd died after a Minneapolis police officer placed his knee on Floyd's neck, while apprehending him on Monday evening May 25, for allegedly attempting to pay a store with a fake US$20 banknote. The 46-year-old African-American's death fuelled public ire and protests in several cities across the US, including Atlanta, Georgia//ANT
