The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 recorded a decrease in cases in 6 of the 10 provinces with the highest cumulative cases in the past week, namely Jakarta, North Sumatra, West Java, East Java, South Kalimantan, and South Sulawesi.

"Of the 10 provinces, there are still some provinces with increasing cases, while 6 others experienced a decline," the Head of Data and Information Technology for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Dr. Dewi Nur Aisyah said at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday.

She said in Jakarta, the trend of COVID-19 cases in a week had decreased by minus 0.8 percent. For this reason, the COVID-19 Task Force encourages the decline to be much higher in the following weeks.

Based on the data, a very significant increase in cases of Jakarta occurred in early September. However, in the last week, the trend has declined slightly.

Next, North Sumatra last week also saw a decrease in cases by 3.9 percent, compared to the previous week, with 50 percent of cases in Medan City.

West Java recorded a decline of 28.5 percent in the past week, in contrast to two weeks ago when the increase in cases was very high.

East Java also decreased by minus 8 percent, South Kalimantan by minus 8.1 percent, and South Sulawesi, which also recorded a significant decrease of 30.1 percent.

Meanwhile, 4 out of 10 other provinces with the highest cumulative cases in Indonesia in the past week experienced an upward trend, including Central Java, Papua, Bali, and Aceh.

Central Java Province increased 1.3 percent, Papua 2.4 percent, Bali 6.3 percent, and Aceh recorded a significant upward trend of 12.2 percent. (Antaranews)
