The number of additional COVID-19 cases in Indonesia in the first week of November 2020 fell to 17.1 percent when compared to the increase that occurred in the fourth week of October 2020, said the Task Force for Handling COVID-19.

 

 "This week there has been a decrease in positive cases of around 17.1 percent. This is a progress towards a better direction. The addition of positive cases must continue to decrease every week," said Wiku Adisasmito, spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, in a virtual press conference, in Jakarta, Tuesday.

 

 Wiku appreciated West Java, Banten, Riau and Central Java, which were out of the top five provinces with the highest increase in cases this week.

 

 On the other hand, said Wiku, there was also an increase in the highest number of COVID-19 cases in five provinces, namely West Sumatra with 142 cases, Riau Islands with 137 cases, DI Yogyakarta 76 cases, West Papua 45 cases, and Papua increasing by 40 cases.

 

 "It needs special attention to the top 5 provinces with the highest increase in cases this week," he said.

 

 The government, said Wiku, has prepared hospital facilities and infrastructure, such as laboratories and the availability of PCR test kits in various hospitals throughout Indonesia.

 

 "Currently the government has prepared 422 PCR and TCM examination laboratories throughout Indonesia. The government has prepared a stock of PCR reagents for 795 thousand specimens and 686 thousand RNA reagents," said Wiku.

 

 From the national cumulative data, on Tuesday (3/11), there was an increase in confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 reaching 2,973 cases, while the number of cured cases increased by 3,931 people.

 

 With this addition, the total positive confirmation of COVID-19 in Indonesia became 418,375 cases and cases recovered to 349,497 people. (Antaranews)
