President Joko Widodo and 21 people from different professions, officially received the first vaccination in Indonesia, which took place at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (13/01/21).
According to Jokowi, this vaccination was carried out after the issuance of an emergency use permit from the BPOM and a halal fatwa from the MUI.
Jokowi said, after the initial vaccination at the Palace, the vaccination program will continue throughout Indonesia.
"After we have carried out this initial vaccination, vaccinations will be continued in all provinces, districts, and cities throughout the country," said Jokowi.
"This initial vaccination was carried out after we obtained an Emergency Use of Authorization permit from the BPOM and the issuance of a halal fatwa from the Indonesian Ulema Council. We would like to express our deepest gratitude," Jokowi added.
Jokowi stated that this vaccination is important to carry out in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia and to accelerate national economic recovery.
"COVID-19 vaccination is important to break the chain of transmission of COVID-19 and provide health protection, safety, security for all of us, the people of Indonesia and to help accelerate the economic recovery process," said Jokowi.
Not to forget, Jokowi also conveyed an important message that should not be forgotten by all levels of society in all regions, namely the implementation of health protocols, even though they have received vaccinations.
"Even though vaccinations have been carried out, I would like to remind you of the importance of disciplined health protocols. We will continue to wear masks, wash hands, keeping distance, and avoid crowds," Jokowi said firmly.
Jokowi sincerely expressed his gratitude to the vaccinator from the Presidential Team of Doctors, namely Prof. Dr. Abdul Muthalib who became the vaccine injector for him.
"I also want to thank Prof. DR Abdul Muthalib who had injected the vaccine into me," concluded Jokowi.
After the president is vaccinated today, the plan is for the next, namely the ministers from the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, regional heads, and especially health workers who are at the forefront of the national health system. (RRI)
