Jakarta (voinews): Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin and Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono came across three cases of stunting in children during monthly health checkups at the integrated health post (Posyandu) in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta.

"Of the 15 children, who have just undergone a health checkup, at Cempaka Putih Posyandu, we found three children, who might fall into the stunting category. We must act quickly to handle it," Hartono noted at Cempaka Putih Posyandu, Jakarta, Wednesday.

One of the parents of the three children, Sutarti, admitted that her child, Aisyah, weighed 9.9 kilograms and was 84 centimeters in height at the age of 2.5 years.

"The nutritionist at the health center said that Aisyah's development might be lagging behind, but her height and weight are still proportional. It is true that my kid has difficulty eating," Sutarti explained.

She noted that Aisyah's weight began to decrease when she entered the age of six months or the complementary food (MPASI) period.

Sutarti was also advised to include additional sources of fats, such as chicken oil and olive oil, in Aisyah's main food.

Meanwhile, Minister Sadikin drew a parallel between stunting and stage 4 cancer that is difficult to cure.

"Stunting is like fourth-stage cancer. It is hard to return to normal conditions. We must catch up on stage one, stage two, and others. These children must be weighed every month, not six months," he stated.

However, he lauded the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment and efforts to reduce the number of stunting cases to below 10 percent, surpassing the target of 14 percent by 2024 set by President Joko Widodo.

Meanwhile, Acting Governor Hartono appealed to parents to be disciplined in managing and checking their child's height and weight on a monthly basis, both at posyandu and community health center (puskesmas).

He said that the Health Ministry and Jakarta Provincial Government could also intervene to provide additional nutrition, such as protein intake for children falling in the stunting category. (Antaranews)

The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs is aiming for investment to reach Rp1,250-Rp1,400 trillion (up to US$92 billion) by formulating policies that facilitate and reform access to business permits.

Thus, the ministry collaborates with the British Government since 2019 to improve regulations on investment and business ecosystem.

"Among some collaborative programs with the British Government are technical assistance on the formulation of a risk-based business permit policy as well as perfecting risk-based monitoring in practice, on top of benchmarking of permits and risk-based monitoring from the British Government," secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso noted in an official statement on Tuesday.

The three-year collaboration between Indonesia and Britain for the reform of regulations was concluded with the viewing of a video on risk-based business permit on Tuesday, February 21, at the ministry's office.

"The Indonesian government realized that in the implementation of a risk-based business permit policy, the basic requirements and investment requirements are still impeded due to many issues and challenges, whether it is in the synchronization of business permit regulation or perfecting the Online Single Submission system," he elaborated.

Moreover, other issues pertain to risk-based evaluation, government apparatus capacity improvement, and development of public comprehension of risk-based policy.

Nevertheless, the collaboration between the ministry and British Government plays an important role in ensuring that the reform in regulation can lead to success in improving national investment as well as facilitating business access.

The collaboration was expected to be developed further for ensuring a better investment landscape in Indonesia.

"The British Government has worked for years to create a regulation environment in which businesses can invest and develop while also protecting the citizens and environment," chief executive of the Office of Product Safety and Standards, UK Department for Business and Trade, Graham Russell stated.

Russell also echoed his administration's enthusiasm to assist the Indonesian Government to improve business permits and conduct inspections as a means to lower risks.

"I know this means a change for every official and business involved. It is very delightful to see extraordinary development. Changes have begun to push the number of registered startups by a significant amount, and as implementation goes, I expect it will improve the government's achievement in growth improvement," he remarked. (voinews.id) Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati encourages gender equality in the digital and green economy where women can gain access, equal roles and jobs in the world's economy. This was conveyed by Sri Mulyani in Jakarta, Tuesday evening.

As a speaker at a global event entitled Empowering Women to Shape the Future of Jobs which airs on the World Bank's YouTube monitored by ANTARA, the Minister of Finance said that there are a number of toughest obstacles for women to be able to participate in the digital and green economy that must be overcome.

These obstacles include, among others, family values, culture, religion, regulations, as well as views about women who are considered less competent because they do not have education in the fields of technology and mathematics.

Therefore, Sri Mulyani said it was necessary to promote more women so that they could fulfill the requirements or participate not only in basic education but also higher education including in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

According to the Minister of Finance, many businesses are now turning into digital platforms and markets, and these conditions provide flexibility for women to be able to stay at home taking care of their children and household while being more productive by using entrepreneurial skills to access the market. VOInews, Jakarta: The holding of General Elections abroad has its own challenges, starting from the Final Voters List (DPT) which has not been perfectly integrated to challenges for election organizers abroad who incidentally are not formal Election organizers. The Chairperson of Commission II of the Indonesian Parliament, Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tanjung, said that to address the DPT issue, the General Elections Commission (KPU) carried out a matching and research mechanism for DPT that had been recorded by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"Foreign and domestic DPT must be of serious concern and we want it to continue to the KPU so that this can be continuously updated as long as we don't have valid population data yet and it is managed in a good system," he said.

Another issue that often becomes a challenge in the implementation of elections abroad is the existence of election organizers who incidentally do not originate from formal officials. This poses a challenge, because the Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) is an officer selected by the KPU.

"So far, most of them have been run by friends at the Indonesian Embassy or volunteers who are currently studying abroad or working there. Not necessarily able to work optimally, “he said.

He said PPLN has a duty to reach out to Indonesian people abroad who are widespread. In addition, PPLN has a duty to convince Indonesian people abroad to exercise their right to vote in accordance with the provisions.

"For overseas, there must be extraordinary effort from our Indonesian Embassy to be able to help form devices that are capable of reaching the public to provide information," he said.

Nonetheless, Ahmad Doli Kurnia explained, Indonesia has a good history in holding elections, especially when referring to the holding of elections during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Yesterday we were recorded as a country that had successfully implemented the 2020 Pilkada in 271 regions with a turnout rate of 83 percent. This is a success story to be continued in the 2024 Pemiu," he concluded. (VOI/Andy)
