The Indonesian economy grew 5.72 percent year-on-year (yoy) in the third quarter (Q3) of 2022 as compared to 5.45 percent yoy in the previous quarter, according to Statistics Indonesia (BPS).

"Indonesia's gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter of 2022, based on current prices (ADHB), was recorded at Rp5,091.2 trillion and based on constant prices (ADHK) was at Rp2,976.8 trillion," BPS Chief Margo Yuwono stated during an online press conference on the country's economic growth in Q3 in Jakarta on Monday.

The country's GDP in Q3 of 2021 only reached Rp4,325.2 trillion based on current prices and Rp2,815.9 trillion based on constant prices.

Annual economic growth has persistently shown an upward trend in the four consecutive quarters and has hovered above five percent since the fourth quarter of 2021, he pointed out.

"The growth sends a signal that the Indonesian economic recovery is continuing and getting stronger. This is achievement that the entire Indonesian nation made amid the increasingly uncertain global condition. However, we are still able to maintain our economic growth and even the trend (of economic growth) continues to strengthen," he remarked.

He said the national economy in the third quarter of 2022 expanded 1.81 percent quarter-to-quarter (qtq) as compared to the previous quarter when the GDP stood at Rp4,920.4 trillion based on current prices and Rp2,924 trillion based on constant prices.

Essentially, the national economy grew at a slower pace in Q3 of 2022 than in the previous quarter when it picked up to 3.72 percent qtq due to seasonal pattern.

Meanwhile, the national economy grew 5.4 percent yoy in Q3 last year. (Antaranews)

The Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry emphasized the importance of the Pancasila Student Profile strengthening project (P5), as it will influence Indonesia's demographic bonus in 2045.

"It is true that P5 is important for the demographic bonus. We have to be heedful because the younger generation will be the (stakeholders). Hence, if we do not have the character (of the Pancasila student profile), then we will face a void (in the positions of being stakeholders)," Acting Head of the Character Strengthening Center Hendarman stated during the event "Say Hello to SMK (vocational high school) Students: Love the Country, Be a Nowadays' Hero" here on Monday.

Hendarman elaborated that the Pancasila Student Profile comprised six character traits of being faithful, having piety of God and noble character, having global nationality, cooperation, independence, and critical reasoning and creativity.

He affirmed that students in the country must lead their lives by having these six character traits. He believes that otherwise, it is feared that Indonesia would not be able to maximize the existing demographic bonus, and thus, face various obstacles instead.

"For instance, if we are not critical, what will happen? We could be easily lied to and are lazy to find (reliable) information," he stated.

Another example is if the Indonesian nation is unable to cooperate, then it will result in a division if it continues to occur, Hendarman added.

"Remember, in Pancasila, this nation essentially (came) from mutual cooperation. If we are not able to work together, then there will be separation. Imagine if there is a division in a demographic bonus," he stated.

To that end, he invited members of the younger generation, including school students, teachers, principals, parents, and all sections of society, to jointly intensify the implementation of P5.

"Hence, we are ready to make Indonesia greater," he concluded. (Antaranews)

The Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Ministry is developing a Marine Aquarium Education Center in Pangandaran District, West Java Province, as an education, training, consultation, and conservation facility.

Head of the Research and Human Resources Agency for Marine and Fisheries (BRSDM) I Nyoman Radiarta noted in a press release on Monday that the government will collaborate with a private local company through an operational cooperation agreement (KSO) to develop the facility.

Development of the Marine Aquarium Education Center is a revitalization project of the existing Pangandaran Integrated Aquarium and Marine Research Institute (PIAMARI) that is managed by BRSDM’s Tegal Fisheries Training and Dissemination Center (BPPP).

The BRSDM head stated that on account of institutional transformation of the research ecosystem in Indonesia, where research activities are transferred to the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the KSO aims to optimize the use of assets owned by the KKP Ministry.

"Hence, it becomes a challenge for us on how to develop and utilize our former research assets to bolster education, training, and consultation activities in the marine and fisheries sector,” he stressed.

In addition, he noted that development can create new job and business growth opportunities for the surrounding community as well as increase the non-tax state revenues (PNPB) that can be used to improve public services.

Radiarta said the KSO was also in line with the directives of KKP Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono to manage and utilize the ministry’s assets through a cooperation scheme with various parties to boost the state revenue.

The pre-official launch of the Marine Aquarium Education Center is scheduled to take place in December 2022. The ministry had signed the KSO with PT. Tridacna Banyu Lestari.

The BRSDM head expected that the attempt can be a good start in optimizing state assets to benefit the wider community.

Head of the ministry’s Finance Bureau, Cipto Hadi Prayitno, noted that the implementation of KSO was an excellent state property (BMN) optimization.

"The innovation offered (by the implementation of KSO) is the best solution to develop the Marine Aquarium Education Center. We have to think creatively on how to take advantage of our existing assets," he added. (Antaranews)

National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia's G20 Presidency brought hope amid uncertainty faced by several countries.

"Indonesia's G20 brings hope in the midst of uncertainty faced by the whole world, the disruption of technology and information on the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Russia-Ukraine war, (thereby) causing all countries to be (riddled) in a difficult situation," Prabowo remarked while giving a press statement after leading the 2022 Puri Agung Operation troops at the Niti Mandala Field, Renon, Denpasar, Bali, on Monday.

With the theme of "Recover Together, Recover Stronger," he affirmed that Indonesia's G20 presidency could provide solutions for world peace and a more inclusive world recovery.

"This agenda is very strategic for G20 member countries, but also oriented to all parties, including developing countries, the smallest island countries, and vulnerable groups," he remarked.

Hence, he said, the National Police should sense pride in being part of securing one of the world's historic moments, especially the culmination of a series of activities attended by some 20 state leaders and representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

The G20 Summit Forum holds significance since globally, it controls 60 percent of the world's population, 75 percent of world trade, and 80 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).

"The task of securing the G20 Summit is not just an ordinary task but a noble task that will benefit the entire world. President Joko Widodo has said that we must really maintain the honor and trust that has been given to Indonesia. There should be no explosions, no matter how small," he affirmed.

Prabowo believes that by realizing the success of Indonesia's presidency at the G20 Summit, the country's credibility in the eyes of the world will increase.

So far, he made assurance that the entire agenda of the G20 Summit run safely, comfortably, and smoothly.

He also expressed gratitude and appreciation to all parties involved in securing the G20 Summit.

The security and success of the earlier series of events should be maintained until the peak of the G20 Summit in Bali on November 15-16.

In connection with security for the G20 Summit, the National Police held a centralized operation at Puri Agung on November 8-17 at three jurisdictions: the Bali Police, East Java Police, and West Nusa Tenggara Police.

The operation involved 9,700 personnel and 3,699 reserve troops from the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) with the support of special capabilities and modern technology integrated through the command center.

Prabowo remarked that the National Police had made super-tight security arrangements, as a precautionary measure against the situation that could change quickly and erratically due to the Russia-Ukraine, China-United States, and South Korea-North Korea conflicts.

"It is possible that there are groups that use the G20 to attract international attention. We must be able to predict and prevent actions that can discredit the Indonesian state and guest countries as well as activities that lead to things that are disruptive and anarchic," he remarked.

He also expressed optimism that the G20 Summit would portray Indonesia as a friendly and courteous host, so that it leaves a good impression on all delegates and demonstrates Indonesia's capabilities in the eyes of the world.  (Antaranews)
