The National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) has expressed its readiness to take part in efforts to protect cyber security during the G20 Summit, which will be held in Bali in November this year.

"BNPT and its staff are ready to protect cyberspace. Save your data, follow literacy, secure your gadgets, and strengthen your passwords," BNPT's main secretary, Major General Dedi Sambowo, said in a written statement received here on Wednesday.

G20 is an international forum comprising 19 countries and the European Union that work together to handle major issues. Indonesia is holding the presidency of the grouping this year.

He conveyed the BNPT’s readiness during a focus group discussion (FGD) of the Cyber Security Coordination Forum for the G20 Summit.

The presence of BNPT is a form of direct support for cyber security at the G20 Summit, specifically in the transportation, energy, and information sectors, Sambowo said.

Meanwhile, head of the Sub-Directorate of Information Technology at BNPT, Sutriyono, outlined the latest situation on the dynamics of terror threats in cyberspace, including digital space and social media.

According to him, what is no less important is countering the radical ideology propaganda in digital space, as well as campaigning to raise awareness about nationalism on social media.

This is because the radical ideology of violence is a potential threat that poses a danger and can disrupt the G20 Summit in Bali.

The summit is expected to serve as an event to showcase Indonesia's good image and name by ensuring that the international-scale event is safe from various threats, including, in this case, the threat of terrorists who tend to misuse and manipulate cyberspace. (Antaranews)

The government is preparing to integrate poverty data to support the acceleration of extreme poverty reduction efforts, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has said.

The program will integrate the data on the poor from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), the Ministry of Villages, Development, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration, and the Social Welfare Integrated Data (DTKS) of the Ministry of Social Affairs.

"Each data will be combined into one," Amin informed after chairing a plenary meeting on the implementation of Presidential Instruction Number 4 of 2022 concerning the acceleration of the elimination of extreme poverty in Jakarta on Wednesday.

In 2022, the government has conducted a survey of 212 districts and cities, he said.

"For any data that has not been recorded, the government will conduct another validation to be followed up later. It will involve the role of local government," he added.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, said that the government is trying to obtain accurate data to support its poverty eradication effort.

"For handling extreme poverty, we will use specific data called Targeting the Acceleration of the Elimination of Extreme Poverty (P3KE). This P3KE is final data from triangulation, updating through sorting existing data," he explained.

P3KE data has been sourced from the survey results of BPS, DTKS of the Social Affairs Ministry, BKKBN, and the Ministry of Villages, Development, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration, among others.

“Later, there will be additions from the Ministry of Health and ministries under the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs. We will compile the data later," Effendy informed.

According to him, the government will cross-check data from data sources to ensure that the target groups for poverty alleviation programs are based on names and addresses.

"If later we find no population identification number (NIK) on the beneficiaries, this is actually an opportunity for those who never received social assistance to finally have one," Effendy said.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, informed that the poverty rate in Indonesia in March 2022 reached 9.54 percent, accounting for 270.20 million of the total population, based on the results of the population census.

Moreover, the extreme poverty rate fell to 2.04 percent or around 5.59 million people in March 2022, he explained.

Presidential Instruction Number 4 of 2022 was enforced on June 8 to accelerate efforts to reduce extreme poverty.

The presidential instruction tasks 22 ministries, 6 institutions, and local governments with carrying out the necessary steps, according to their respective duties, functions, and authorities, to accelerate the elimination of extreme poverty.

The measure of extreme poverty used by the government is based on the definition of the World Bank and the United Nations, which is US$1.9 Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) per capita per day, which is lower than the BPS threshold of US$2.5 PPP per capita per day. (Antaranews)

The Indonesian para archery contingent topped its gold medal target thanks to the brilliant performance of athletes in the final round of the afternoon session at the ASEAN Para Games (APG) 2022 on Wednesday.

As of Wednesday, Indonesian archers have collected three golds, two silvers, and two bronzes at the 11th APG.

Head coach of the national para archery team, Tri Sugeng Purwanto, said the Indonesian athletes played with confidence.

"They trained for a long time, but there was no game, so it seemed like an 'outburst' today. Tomorrow, there is still one more (match); hopefully, (they can get gold). It's probably fifty-fifty, but this is already an incredible achievement," Purwanto remarked.

In Wednesday's final round at the Kota Barat Field in Solo, Mahda Aulia and Wahyu Retno Wulandari clinched the gold medal after defeating Thai pair Phattharaphon Pattawaeo and Tpat Chatyotsakorn in the recurve women's open doubles, with a score of 34–32, 32–25, and 27–19.

Further, Setiawan and Kholidin bagged gold in the recurve men's open doubles after defeating Thai pair Hanreuchai Netsiri and Pornchai Phimthong by 33–33, 37–30, and 36–33.

Earlier, in the first session of the match, Setiawan had managed to claim the first gold medal in the recurve men's single.

Kholidin said that he was elated at winning gold considering that the opponents they faced were quite tough.

"Because Thai players have participated in several Paralympics events, (they have) become world-class. We have just met Thailand (athletes) this time; actually, (we are not) comparable but we believe Indonesia can do it," he remarked.

He said that on Thursday (August 4, 2022), he will compete again in the final, as there are three more bronze matches left.

Encouraged by the results, he is also targeting to compete in the Asian Para Games and Paralympics in the future. (Antaranews)

U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi left Taiwan on Wednesday after pledging solidarity and hailing its democracy, leaving a trail of Chinese anger over her brief visit to the self-ruled island that Beijing claims as its own.

Pelosi, whose delegation made an unannounced but closely watched stop in Taiwan late on Tuesday after visits to Singapore and Malaysia, was scheduled to continue her Asian tour with stops in South Korea and Japan.

Her plane took off from an airport in the capital Taipei at around 6 p.m.(1000 GMT) local time. (Reuters)
