PLN Gradually Recovers Electricity Supply (0)
State-owned electricity firm PT PLN has recovered electric power to Balaraja Extra High Voltage substation in Banten Province, and furthermore it will be channeled to Suralaya steam-fueled power plant (PLTU) to gradually recover its operation to reach its capacity of 2800 MW of electricity.
In addition, power supply from Gandul Extra High Voltage substations in Depok, West Java Province, will be channeled to Muara Karang gas and steam power plant (PLTGU) to supply electricity to the Indonesian capital city, Jakarta.
Acting President Director of PLN Sripeni Inten Cahyani said here on Sunday that the power supply to Jakarta was expected to recover within three hours.
"We apologize for the inconvenience today, and currently all efforts have been made to recover the Java-Bali power system, especially in the area of West Java, Banten, and Jakarta," Cahyani said.
The company has focused on power supply to PLTGU Muara Karang and PLTGU Priok to recover the system in the capital city.
Previously, PLN has recovered the operation of hydro-generated power plant (PLTA) Saguling and PLTA Cirata which are functioned as power stabilizer, and, at the same time, supply the electricity to PLTU Suralaya through Cibinong, Depok, Gandul, Lengkok, Balaraja and Suralaya extra high voltage substations.
PLTU Suralaya is expected to return to its normal operation within six hours to normalize power system in West Java and Banten.
Blackout that affected thousands of homes and public facilities in West Java, Jakarta, and Banten was caused by several troubles in the extra high voltage 500 kV transmission of Ungaran - Pemalang.
"PLN has taken its best efforts and will have evaluation to prevent recurrence of today's incident," Cahyani said.

President Joko Widodo Conveys the Importance of Global Solidarity and Partnership Facing the Covid-19 Pandemic

The Non-Aligned Summit was held under the leadership of Azerbaijan and was followed by 39 countries of the Non-Aligned Movement. The NAM Summit this time raised the theme of United Against Covid-19 or Unity Against Covid-19. In addition to being followed by the Non-Aligned Movement countries, the Summit was also attended by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Director-General of WHO to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission or Chairperson of African Union Committee. During the summit, President Joko Widodo conveyed the importance of strengthening political solidarity among the Non-Aligned Movement countries. “Debt payment obligations of developing countries can be transferred to financing for handling Covid-19 or called Debt Swap for Covid-19 from official creditors. This is important to say because there are so many developing countries, especially the least developed countries that have difficulties in handling Covid-19,” Retno Marsudi said.
Retno Marsudi added that President Joko Widodo in the Non-Aligned Movement Virtual Summit summit also stressed the importance of developing countries to be a solution for improving global health governance. Indonesian Government Pushes for Transparency, Communication in Tackling Corona

"Surely this communication is related to the performance of the government and the performance of us all," he said during a video conference at Graha BNPB Jakarta on Monday.
Transparency and effective communication are needed because the impact of COVID-19 has been huge, not only in the health sector but also in other sectors and this needs to be understood, he explained.
It would be difficult to provide the social safety net properly if communication, through data, and other information is not available transparently, he said. "This, of course, makes it difficult for us in its (social safety net) implementation,” he added.
In addition to transparency, he also urged citizens to follow news and information related to COVID-19 that is true and accountable.

PT Freeport Provides Isolation Location for Employees

PMI to collect convalescent blood plasma for COVID-19 treatment

The Indonesian Red Cross for Jakarta region (PMI Jakarta) expressed willingness, to collect blood of recovered COVID-19 patients, for trial of treatment using convalescent blood plasma, as proposed in Indonesia by Eijkman Molecular Biology Institute
As quoted by Antara News Agency, Salimar Salim, head of the transfusions unit at PMI Jakarta, expounded on Friday, that his side is ready to collect the blood plasma, yet PMI is currently awaiting official guidelines, apart from a minimum requirement of two weeks, after their symptoms resolve and only if they then test negative for COVID-19.
Salim revealed that the organization was currently also forging cooperation with the hospitals, since they have the data of patients that had recovered from the disease.
