Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi stated that Indonesia is ready to be a meeting place between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and the United States President Donald Trump. The statement was made during a meeting with South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam on Wednesday, May 2 in Jakarta. The statement is a continuation of President Joko Widodo's offer to South Korean Ambassador to Indonesia Kim Chang-beom and North Korean Ambassador to Indonesia An Kwang II who was invited to Merdeka Palace, Jakarta some time ago. After meeting with Lim-Sung-nam, Retno Marsudi conveyed to the media that she could not confirm when and where the meeting would be held.

“The point is that we are ready, so it must be understood that the President's sentence in full that the President is ready if desired. We talked about the issue. When the meeting will be held and where it is still unclear. From the media it is mentioned there are three weeks, four weeks but officially he cannot deliver whether three weeks, four weeks and so on because it has not been decided,” Retno Marsudi said.

Retno Marsudi added that South Korea cannot determine when and where the meetings between North Korean and the US leaders will be held. Therefore, all decisions related to the meeting are in the hands of North Korea and the US as two interested parties. The two leaders are scheduled to hold a meeting to discuss the Korean peace plan and denuclearization. The plan of the meeting is the country's follow-up to a meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in at the Joint Security Area in Panmunjom some time ago. In the meeting there were positive agreements, among them are the process towards peace or reunification of Korea and North Korea's nuclear disarmament. (VOI/Rezha/AHM)
